MULTI-SPEED HARD DISK DRIVE
A hard disk drive includes a base deck, a motor coupled to the base deck, a magnetic recording medium coupled to the motor and having a first zone and a second zone, and a controller. The controller is programmed to cause the motor to rotate at either a first speed or a second speed when data is to be read from the first zone and to cause the motor to rotate at the first speed when data is to be written to the first zone and the second zone.
Method for backing up and restoring disc management information
A method for backing up and restoring a disc management information is disclosed. Firstly, a specified optical disc is loaded into an optical disc drive. After a servo calibration process is performed, the latest update of the disc management information is read from a specified optical disc. If the latest update of the disc management information is read successfully, the optical disc drive enters a normal working state. If the latest update of the disc management information is not read successfully, the latest update of the disc management information is acquired through a processing circuit. Consequently, the optical disc drive enters the normal working state. While the normal working state of the optical disc drive is terminated, the latest update of the disc management information is transmitted to the processing circuit and recorded into the storage device.

Optical medium having a linear track
Various devices and systems may benefit from enhanced reading of optical media. For example, certain computer systems may benefit from array reading of optical media. An apparatus may include, for example, an array of optical sensors. The array of optical sensors may be configured to read a plurality of parallel linear strips of data from an optical medium.
Method of mass transfer of plurality of data discs with disc drive slots
The present disclosure relates to a storage and transfer apparatus for mass transfer of a plurality of data discs to trays of a plurality stacked disc drives. The storage and transfer apparatus may store a plurality of discs with the disc hold pins retracted and the telescopic sections collapsed over each other. In such a configuration, the stored discs may lie in contact with each other. The storage and transfer apparatus may transfer the plurality of discs to the trays of the plurality of stacked disc drives with the discs holding pins extended and the telescopic sections extended relative to each other.
