Tape assemblies having movable reel configurations for magnetic recording devices
The present disclosure generally relates to tape assembly implementations for magnetic recording devices, such as tape embedded drives (TEDs). In one or more embodiments, one or more of a first reel and/or a second reel is laterally movable relative to a side wall of a casing of the tape assembly. In one or more embodiments, a drive assembly laterally moves the first reel and the second reel substantially simultaneously such that a spindle distance between a first spindle and a second spindle is substantially constant.
Recording tape cartridge
Provided is a recording tape cartridge including: a case that accommodates a reel on which a recording tape is wound and includes a reference surface that serves as a reference in an axial direction of the reel in a case where the case is loaded into a drive device; noncontact communication mediums on which individual information is recorded, the noncontact communication mediums being accommodated in the case in a state where at least two noncontact communication mediums overlap each other and having a plate shape; and a supporting portion that is formed in the case and supports the noncontact communication mediums such that the noncontact communication mediums are disposed while being inclined with respect to the reference surface at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
Magnetic tape cartridge with increased data storage capacity
A tape cartridge for retaining a magnetic tape, the tape cartridge being configured to be selectively positioned substantially within a tape drive, includes a cartridge body and a cartridge hub. The cartridge body includes a cartridge length from a front to a rear of the cartridge body, and a cartridge width from a first side to a second side of the cartridge body. The cartridge hub is positioned within the cartridge body. The cartridge hub is configured so that the magnetic tape is wound around the cartridge hub within the cartridge body. The cartridge hub includes a hub diameter. The cartridge length and the cartridge width provide boundaries for a maximum wound tape diameter as the magnetic tape is wound around the cartridge hub within the cartridge body. A ratio of the maximum wound tape diameter to the hub diameter is at least approximately 3.50:1.
RECORDING TAPE CARTRIDGE
A recording tape cartridge includes: a reel including a reel hub having an outer diameter of an upper end portion thereof is smaller than that of a lower end portion thereof, and a lower flange in which plural through holes are radially formed and inclined surfaces are formed at one edge portion and the other edge portion of each of the through holes, the inclined surfaces are directed to a flange circumferential direction. An inclination angle with respect to a reel rotation axis of the inclined surface at the one edge portion, which is directed in a rotational direction of the reel, when a recording tape is wound on the reel, is larger than an inclination angle with respect to the reel rotation axis of the inclined surface of the other edge portion, which is directed in the rotational direction of the reel when the recording tape is led out of the reel.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING REEL
A method for manufacturing a reel includes molding a reel configuration component that is made of resin and includes a reel hub with an outer peripheral face for winding a recording tape onto, after the molding and prior to the reel configuration component cooling and shrinking, embedding a reinforcement ring into the reel hub, and after the embedding, cooling and shrinking the reel configuration component and fixing the reinforcement ring to the reel hub.
TAPE REEL AND TAPE CARTRIDGE
A tape reel according to an embodiment of the present technology includes: a cylindrical reel hub that includes an outer periphery portion, a tape being wound on the reel hub. The reel hub is formed of a material in which a deformation amount when a load of 300 N is applied radially inward to an axial center of the outer periphery portion is 0.3 mm or less and a water absorption rate is 0.1% or less.
Mold, tape reel, and tape cartridge
There is provided a mold for molding a tape reel that is made of a resin and that includes a cylindrical portion, a bottom portion formed on a proximal end side of the cylindrical portion, and a plurality of through holes penetrating the bottom portion and arranged in a peripheral direction of the cylindrical portion, the mold including: a bottom surface that is used to form the bottom portion; a tubular surface that is used to form the cylindrical portion; and a plurality of projecting portions that protrude from the bottom surface and are used to form the plurality of through holes, respectively, in which, in the tubular surface, a first portion corresponding to a portion between the projecting portions adjacent to each other in the peripheral direction, among the plurality of projecting portions, has a shape that bulges toward a radially outer side of the bottom surface than a second portion corresponding to the projecting portion.
TAPE REEL AND TAPE CARTRIDGE
A tape is prevented from moving in a width direction and the tape is prevented from being damaged in a state in which the tape is wound around a tape reel. There is provided a tape reel including: a cylindrical portion around which a tape is wound; a first flange annularly projecting toward an outer side in a radial direction of the cylindrical portion from the cylindrical portion; and a second flange separated from the first flange in an axial direction of the cylindrical portion and annularly projecting toward the outer side in the radial direction from the cylindrical portion, in which a distance between the first flange and the second flange becomes narrower while extending toward the outer side in the radial direction, and a bending elastic modulus of the first flange is smaller than a bending elastic modulus of the second flange.
