MAGNETIC STORAGE DECLASSIFICATION DEVICE
A media declassification device receives a media component such as a magnetic hard disk drive, and deletes data stored thereon by physical agitation and dismantling the media component. A cutting blade shears or grinds a perimeter region around a top of the hard disk drive (HDD drive, or simply drive) to a predetermined depth calculated to remove heads from screws and other fasteners securing a metal top panel. Inversion of the drive allows a magnetic media platter upon which data is stored to simply drop out. The magnetic platter is fed into a shredding device for obliteration to sufficiently small particles for declassification, while rare earth magnets are removed from the remaining drive chassis, and the now declassified chassis discarded into a recycling stream.
Permanent magnet degausser mechanism for destroying the functionality of data bearing components of magnetic media data bearing devices
A Permanent Magnet Degausser Mechanism for Destroying the Functionality of Data Bearing Components of Magnetic Media Data Bearing Devices. This permanent magnet degausser mechanism provides reconciliation and tracking with a unique. identification tag using a secure and proprietary database, destruction of the functionality of the data bearing components of magnetic media data bearing devices using an automated movement system, a NSA Certified high strength degausser, digital pre-degaussing and post-degaussing readings to indicate the completion of the process of destroying the functionality of the data bearing components including storage of readings and containment of the remains of the magnetic media devices for verification.
Hard Drive Dismantling System
A system and method for reclaiming select components containing rare earth metals of electronic media electronic storage devices such as hard disk drives, solid state drives and hybrid hard drives and destroying the data containing components thereof comprising first devices to loosen various components of the storage device, the components including the components containing the rare earth elements and the data containing portions. Second devices are provided for removing components from the storage device. A holding chassis receives the storage device, and moves the storage device for engagement with the first and second devices. A section is provided for destroying the data containing portion of the electric storage device when it is removed from the storage device.
Data removal drill device and method to use
This unique and novel invention provides a custom data removal jig used to reliably, efficiently, and cost-effectively remove data from a handheld mobile computing device (“PC device”). The data removal jig comprises an open-box structure which provides one or more alignment features to assist with properly inserting the PC device within the data removal jig. Additionally, a pilot hole is provided by the securement structure. Once the PC device is inserted into the data removal jig, the pilot hole is substantially centered above the integrated flash memory chip on the particular PC device's motherboard which the data removal jig has been customized to accommodate. A power drill is used to precisely penetrate the PC device via the pilot hole and substantially isolate the damage to the integrated flash memory chip. Additionally, the securement structure also provides one or more braces that assist with restraining movement of the securement structure during the data removal process.
Capacitor Discharge Magnet Degausser Mechanism for Destroying the Functionality of Data Bearing Components of Magnetic Media Data Bearing Devices
The current invention is a Capacitor Discharge Magnet Degausser Mechanism for Destroying the Functionality of Data Bearing Components of Magnetic Media Data Bearing Devices. It provides reconciliation and tracking with a unique identification tag using a secure and proprietary database, destruction of the functionality of the data bearing components of magnetic media data bearing devices using an automated movement system, a NSA Certified high strength Capacitor Discharge Magnet degausser, digital pre-degaussing and post-degaussing readings to indicate the completion of the process of destroying the functionality of the data bearing components including storage of readings and containment of the remains of the magnetic media devices for verification.
Hard disk drive dismantlement for critical material recovery
A system and method for recycling rare earth materials from dissimilar hard disk drives are provided. The system and method generally include scanning each hard disk drive, sorting and aligning each hard disk drive, rapid fastener removal or diversion to a metrology station, and the collection of separated value streams, optionally for formation into new magnetic stock. For each scanned hard disk drive having a match in an inventory database, the method includes the separation of an internal magnet from residual components. For each scanned hard disk drive lacking a match in the inventory database, the method includes generating a metrology data collection record containing the location of each fastener on multiple surfaces of the corresponding hard disk drive. The system and method are commercially scalable with the potential to generate between 600 and 700 metric tons of rare earth elements from a single processing facility annually, including neodymium for example.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE SECURE DISMANTLING OF ELECTRONIC DATA DRIVES
A method and apparatus for efficiently dismantling hard disk drives, including a holder assembly to clamp a hard disk drive, a scanner that reads identification information of the hard disk drive. A chain conveyor belt indexes the hard disk drive to a position at which a logic board of the hard disk drive is peeled off and dropped into a bin, and to a position at which a lid of the hard disk drive is separated from a housing by way of a wedge, and indexes to a punch position at which magnets are punched in a direction from the logic board side of the hard disk drive. By separating and disposing the logic board and the lid, each hard disk drive is efficiently and securely dismantled.
Hard drive non-destructive dismantling system
A system and method for dismantling components of electronic media electronic storage devices such as hard disk drives, solid state drives and hybrid hard drives. The components are dismantled in a nondestructive manner so as to be capable of reuse. First devices loosen the various components of the storage device, Second devices are provided for removing components from the storage device. A holding chassis receives the storage device, and moves the storage device for engagement with the first and second devices. A mechanism may be provided for destroying the data containing portion of the electric storage device when it is removed from the storage device. A database of information concerning past and current storage devices including their configurations, component locations and screw/fastener locations is provided along with a scanning system for retrieving information about the storage device being introduced into the system. The scanned information and information from the database is used to control and position the first and second devices and holding chassis.
