Magnetic sensor

A magnetic sensor whose output characteristic is less sensitive to the environmental temperature is provided. Magnetic sensor 1 has free layer 24 whose magnetization direction changes in response to an external magnetic field, pinned layer 22 whose magnetization direction is fixed with respect to the external magnetic field, spacer layer 23 that is located between pinned layer 22 and free layer 24 and that exhibits a magnetoresistance effect, and at least one magnet film 25 that applies a bias magnetic field to free layer 24. The film thickness of the magnet film is 15 nm or more and 50 nm or less. The relationship of 0.7≤T.sub.C_HM/T.sub.C_FL≤1.05 is satisfied, where T.sub.C_HM is Curie temperature of the magnet film, and T.sub.C_FL is Curie temperature of the free layer.

A magnetic head includes a first magnetic pole, a second magnetic pole, a magnetic element, and a magnetic member. The magnetic element is provided between the first and second magnetic poles, and includes a first magnetic layer. The magnetic member includes a first magnetic part. A second direction from the first magnetic part to the magnetic element crosses a first direction from the first to second magnetic pole. The first magnetic part includes a magnetic material including at least one of first to third materials. The first material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of Mn.sub.3Sn, Mn.sub.3Ge and Mn.sub.3Ga. The second material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a cubic or tetragonal compound including Mn and Ni, a cubic alloy including γ-phase Mn, and a cubic alloy including Fe. The third material includes an antiferromagnet.

Magnetic flux guiding device with spin torque oscillator (STO) film having negative spin polarization layers in assisted writing application

A STRAMR structure is disclosed. The STRAMR structure can include a spin torque oscillator (STO) device in a WG provided between the mail pole (MP) trailing side and a trailing shield. The STO device, includes: a flux guiding layer that has a negative spin polarization (nFGL) with a magnetization pointing substantially parallel to the WG field without the current bias and formed between a first spin polarization preserving layer (ppL1) and a second spin polarization preserving layer (ppL2); a positive spin polarization (pSP) layer that adjoins the TS bottom surface; a non-spin polarization preserving layer (pxL) contacting the MP trailing side; a first negative spin injection layer (nSIL1) between the ppL2 and a third spin polarization preserving layer (ppL3); and a second negative spin injection layer (nSIL2) between the ppL3 and the pxL, wherein the nFGL, nSIL1, and nSIL2 have a spin polarization that is negative.

MAGNETIC HEAD AND MAGNETIC RECORDING DEVICE

A magnetic head includes a first magnetic pole, a second magnetic pole, a magnetic element, and a magnetic member. The magnetic element is provided between the first and second magnetic poles, and includes a first magnetic layer. The magnetic member includes a first magnetic part. A second direction from the first magnetic part to the magnetic element crosses a first direction from the first to second magnetic pole. The first magnetic part includes a magnetic material including at least one of first to third materials. The first material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of Mn.sub.3Sn, Mn.sub.3Ge and Mn.sub.3Ga. The second material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of a cubic or tetragonal compound including Mn and Ni, a cubic alloy including γ-phase Mn, and a cubic alloy including Fe. The third material includes an antiferromagnet.

MAMR Recording Head with SAF Trailing Shield Notch and/or Bump

The present disclosure generally relates to a magnetic media drive employing a magnetic recording head. The magnetic recording head comprises a main pole (MP), a trailing shield (TS), a trailing gap (TG) disposed between the MP and the TS, and a spin torque oscillator (STO) disposed in the TG adjacent to the MP. A notch may be disposed in the TG between the STO and TS. The notch comprises one or more notch interlayers comprising a non-magnetic material and/or a magnetic material. A bump may be disposed in the TG between the TS and the STO or the notch. The bump comprises one or more bump interlayers comprising a non-magnetic material. A hot seed layer may be coupled to the TS adjacent to the bump, the notch, or the STO. The hot seed layer comprises one or more hot seed interlayers comprising a non-magnetic material.

Storage element

A storage element is provided. The storage element includes a memory layer; a fixed magnetization layer; an intermediate layer including a non-magnetic material; wherein the intermediate layer is provided between the memory layer and the fixed magnetization layer; wherein the fixed magnetization layer includes at least a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer, and a non-magnetic layer, and wherein the first magnetic layer includes a CoFeB composition. A memory apparatus and a magnetic head are also provided.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes first and second magnetic poles, and a stacked body provided between the first and second magnetic poles. The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic pole, a first nonmagnetic layer provided between the first and second magnetic layers, a second nonmagnetic layer provided between the second magnetic layer and the second magnetic pole, and a third nonmagnetic layer provided between the first magnetic pole and the first magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes a first element including at least one of Fe, Co, or Ni. The second magnetic layer includes (Fe.sub.100-xCo.sub.x).sub.100-yE.sub.y. A second element E includes at least one selected from the group consisting of Cr, V, Mn, Yi, and Sc. The first magnetic layer does not include the second element.

A magnetic head includes a main pole, a trailing shield, and a spin torque oscillator. A top surface of the main pole includes a first inclined portion, a second inclined portion, and a third inclined portion arranged in order of closeness to a medium facing surface. Each of the first to third inclined portions has a front end closest to the medium facing surface and a rear end farthest from the medium facing surface. Each of the first to third inclined portions is inclined relative to the medium facing surface and a direction orthogonal to the medium facing surface so that its rear end is located forward relative to its front end in a direction of travel of a recording medium.

Magnetic Recording Head with Trailing Shield Having Multiple Throat-Heights

The present disclosure generally relates to data storage devices, and more specifically, to a magnetic media drive employing a magnetic recording head. The magnetic recording head comprises a main pole and a trailing shield disposed adjacent to the main pole. A recessed edge of the trailing shield has throat heights varying in the cross-track direction. In one embodiment, a central portion of the trailing shield disposed adjacent or closest to the main pole has a first throat height less than a second throat height of outer portions of the trailing shield further from the main pole. In another embodiment, the central portion of the trailing shield has a first throat height greater than a second throat height of outer portions of the trailing shield. The trailing shield having varying throat heights in the cross-track direction strengthens the writing capability or improves the XTI of the magnetic recording head.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes first and second magnetic poles, and a stacked body provided between the first and second magnetic poles. The stacked body includes a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer provided between the second magnetic pole and the first magnetic layer, a third magnetic layer provided between the second magnetic pole and the second magnetic layer, a fourth magnetic layer provided between the second magnetic pole and the third magnetic layer, a first non-magnetic layer provided between the first magnetic layer and the first magnetic pole, a second non-magnetic layer provided between the second and first magnetic layers, a third non-magnetic layer provided between the third and second magnetic layers, a fourth non-magnetic layer provided between the fourth magnetic layer and the third magnetic layer, and a fifth non-magnetic layer provided between the second magnetic pole and the fourth magnetic layer.
