Each sensor is configured to sense the open state and the closed state of an associated shutter and generate shutter state signals that include information relating to a current sensed state of the associated shutter and an identification of a port that is associated with the associated shutter. The gateway is in wireless communication with each sensor to receive the shutter state signals. The gateway is configured to communicate the shutter state signals that indicate a change in a state of an associated shutter to a remote location.

The communication method between a terminal and a base station performed by the terminal includes: sending, by the terminal, a network access request frame with a first preamble to a relay device. The relay device may be configured to receive the network access request frame according to the first preamble, send the network access request frame with a second preamble to the base station, and receive a network access response frame returned by the base station. The length of the second preamble may be smaller than that of the first preamble. The communication method may further includes receiving, by the terminal, the network access response frame sent by the relay device.

Embodiments of the present application provide a method and apparatus of communication between a terminal and a base station. The communication method between a terminal and a base station performed by the terminal includes: sending, by the terminal, a network access request frame with a first preamble to a relay device. The relay device may be configured to receive the network access request frame according to the first preamble, send the network access request frame with a second preamble to the base station, and receive a network access response frame returned by the base station. The length of the second preamble may be smaller than that of the first preamble. The communication method may further includes receiving, by the terminal, the network access response frame sent by the relay device.

Techniques are described for managing licenses of Internet of Things devices. One embodiment includes receiving, at a network management system, a request to allocate a license to a first endpoint device. Real-time device metadata and state data for the first endpoint device are accessed. Embodiments select a license instance, from a plurality of license instances, to allocate to the first endpoint device, based at least in part on the real-time device metadata and state data for the first endpoint device. The selected license instance is assigned to the first endpoint device and at least an indication that a valid license has been assigned to the first endpoint device is transmitted to the first endpoint device.
