PRESSURE DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM PROVIDING FAST CLEANING AGAINST CBRN THREATS SUITABLE FOR USE IN MILITARY VEHICLES AND INFRASTRUCTURES
A system which can be manually/automatically activated to ensure instant cleaning of decontamination liquid and gas placed into cylindrical pressure tubes against CBRN threats, wherein the system includes: a decontamination liquid/gas used for cleaning chemical, biologic, radiological and nuclear threats and minimizing effects thereof, a decontamination tube used for discharging decontamination liquid/gas placed therein, a decontamination pyrotechnic igniter-based on pyrotechnic used for ignition of the decontamination tube, a control unit providing manual or automatic operation of the system, and at the same time communication thereof with the hardware units in the system, and a control card located on the control unit, having printed circuit boards with embedded software developed for enabling the control.
Method for decommissioning nuclear facilities
A method for decommissioning a nuclear facility includes: separating a nuclear reactor pressure vessel from biodegradable concrete; decommissioning a concrete structure; covering the biodegradable concrete; and decommissioning the biodegradable concrete.
Handheld device for removing radioactive spills
A system and method of clearing radioactive contamination from a surface is provided by means of a handheld device and a method of using the handheld device. The handheld device has a manual system which operates by pressing a button to spray radioactive wash on the surface. The handheld device also has an electrical system which operates by pressing a button to suction radioactive contamination from the surface. The function of this system is to clean the surface from radioactive contamination. The system of the handheld device consists of a suctioning part and a pump and functions by suctioning the radioactive contamination into a lead cylinder, from which it is easily disposed. A third component includes a gauge for detecting contamination before, during, and after the cleaning and suctioning processes of the handheld device.
Three-way valve operational to both transfer steam to a decontamination water tank under one accident situation and discharge the steam to atmosphere under a different accident situation
Disclosed herein is a nuclear power plant main steam system that reduces the atmospheric discharge of radioactive materials generated in an accident. The system includes: a decontamination water tank containing decontamination water; and a connection pipe for connecting the decontamination water tank to a main steam pipe which connects a steam generator and a turbine. A main steam safety valve or a connection valve is provided as a three-way valve configured to discharge the generated steam to the atmosphere when an accident occurs within a design basis and to transfer the generated steam to the decontamination water tank when an accident involving damage to nuclear fuel occurs. The main steam system reduces discharge of radioactive materials to the atmosphere when a containment bypass accident (e.g., a steam generator tube rupture caused by high-temperature steam) occurs.
Method for reducing radiologically-contaminated waste
A method for reducing radiologically-contaminated waste is provided. The method comprises treating radiologically-contaminated surfaces and subsurfaces. The method comprises consolidating soil waste. The method comprises employing real-time scanning technology to classify waste based at least in part on a threshold of radiological contamination. The waste is sorted based on the classification. The waste is disposed of via at least one of different disposal routes, based at least in part on the classification.
Method of decontamination for a high activity nuclear waste polluted storage canister
A method of follow-up decontamination operation for the polluted storage canister of a high activity nuclear waste storage facility, using needle and steel brushes driven by pneumatic tools for abrading the bottom and the inner wall of the storage canister to remove contaminants, a multi-level filter system for air filtration and removing pollutants in the storage canister, and a cover to be used in association with the pneumatic tools and the multi-level filtration system suitable to cap the storage canister, thus effectively block the exposure of contaminant of the storage canister to the external environment, achieving effective decontamination of the radioactive waste and reducing spreading to the environment.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING WASTE MATERIAL AND A PRODUCT GAS
The invention relates to an apparatus for treating waste material including organic components and radioactive agents. In the apparatus the waste material including organic components and radioactive agents are gasified at temperature between 600-950° C. in a fluidized bed reactor to form a gaseous material. The gaseous material is than cooled in a water quenching device so that temperature is between 300-500° C. after the cooling. The solid fraction including radioactive agents is removed from the gaseous material in a in at least one filtration device. A gas scrubbing device then removes sulphur by scrubbing the treated gaseous material after the filtration in order to form a treated gaseous material.
METHOD FOR DECONTAMINATING SOIL, AND INSTALLATION FOR IMPLEMENTING SAME
The invention is intended for integrated decontamination of soils contaminated with mercury (amalgam) or/and radionuclides. Method for soil decontamination includes preparation of pulp by mixing soils with water at the soil sampling point with separation of fraction with fragments more than 100 mm in the pulp preparation module, disintegration of pulp and soil aggregates in the disintegration module with separation of plants residues and fraction with fragments more than 10 mm. Pulp thickening. In the hydroclassification module the pulp is separated into sand and fine particle fractions, the fine particle fraction goes to the dehydration module, designed as a concentrator, where it is thickened and dehydrated for further disposal. If mercury and amalgam are present in soils they are separated in the thickening module. Technical result—implementation of a low-waste nonchemical technology for decontamination of soil from mercury, its water-insoluble forms, amalgam or/and radionuclides in a single technological process without equipment resetting, separation of metal mercury or its amalgam.
Method And Arrangement Using Buried Tubular Members To Increase The Rate Of Decay Of Radioactive Contamination
A method and combination for increasing the rate of radioisotope decontamination in a layer of soil beneath the ground surface, as well as in low growing plants on the ground surface, in which an array of elongated tubular members with defined lengthwise passageways, acting as a passive system, are inserted into vertical holes drilled into the ground. The elongated tubular members are slotted along their lengths to capture positrons emitted into the soil and direct the flow of the captured positrons into the soil layer
Method for decontaminating soil and the like and system for decontaminating soil and the like
An object to be decontaminated contaminated with radioactive material is introduced into an acid eluting solvent to dissolve the radioactive material. The radioactive material dissolved is concentrated and separated from the eluting solvent in the present method. The object to be decontaminated comprises contaminated soil and contaminated liquid. One or both of the contaminated soil and the contaminated liquid are collected and introduced into the eluting solvent. The radioactive materials and the object to be decontaminated dissolved in the eluting solvent are separated into solid and liquid. The decontaminated soil separated from the eluting solvent is collected. The eluting solvent used for separating the radioactive material and in which radioactive material is dissolved is concentrated.
