Optical cable with electromagnetic field shield layer

A shielded combined optical communication and conductor cable is provided. The cable includes a cable body having an inner surface defining a channel within the cable body. The cable includes an optical transmission element located within the channel and an electrical conducting element located within the channel. The cable includes an electromagnetic shield located within the channel and surrounding at least the electrical conducting element. The electromagnetic shield includes an elongate yarn strand or other strand material that supports a metal material that acts to limit electromagnetic fields from traversing across the electromagnetic shield. The strands may be unbraided and may be helically wrapped or longitudinally positioned within the cable body.

A communication cable is surrounded by a tape with overlapped first and second longitudinal edges. The overlapped portion of the tape extends parallel to the longitudinal length of the communication cable, which is also parallel to the longitudinal central axis of the cable core. An attachment is provided between the overlapped portions of the tape. The attachment may be formed by an adhesive layer between the overlapped portions of the tape or a melting together of the overlapped portions of the tape. In either case, the tape forms a circumferential protective seal around the cable core.

Downhole cable and method of making a downhole cable

A cable that has a cable core with a first armor wire layer and a second armor wire layer. The second armor wire layer is segregated from the first armor wire layer, and an outer jacket is disposed about the second armor wire layer.

TELECOMMUNICATION CABLE WITH TAPE

The present invention relates to a telecommunication cable (100) comprising a plurality of twisted pairs (102) stranded helically around a cable axis, at least two tapes (104, 106) helically wrapped around the plurality of twisted pairs (102) such that that the at least two tapes (104, 106) overlap over the plurality of twisted pair (102), and a sheath (114) encapsulating the at least two tapes (104, 106) wrapped around the plurality of twisted pair (102). In particular, a ratio of first lay length of a first specific twisted pair to second lay length of a second specific twisted pair is in the range of 0.8 to 1.2. Furthermore, a ratio of first lay length of a first specific twisted pair to second lay length of a second specific twisted pair is in the range of 0.5 to 1.5.

COAXIAL CABLE AND CABLE ASSEMBLY

A coaxial cable is composed of a conductor, an insulator covering a periphery of the conductor, a shield layer covering a periphery of the insulator, and a sheath covering a periphery of the shield layer. The shield layer is configured to include a lateral winding shielding portion with a plurality of metal wires being helically wrapped around the periphery of the insulator, and a batch plating portion made of a hot-dip plating covering respective peripheries of the lateral winding shielding portion. The shield layer includes a joining portion where the metal wires adjacent to each other in a circumferential direction are joined with each other with the batch plating portion at a spaced portion where the adjacent metal wires are spaced apart from each other, and the non-joining portion where the metal wires adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction are not joined with each other with the batch plating portion at the spaced portion. A length of the non-joining portion along a cable longitudinal direction is shorter than a winding pitch of the lateral winding shielding portion.
