DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM

A data collection system includes a plurality of sensor modules each provided with a sensor unit, and a data collecting device. The data collecting device (200) is provided with: a clock output unit (201) which outputs a clock signal; an enable signal output unit (202) which outputs to a prescribed sensor module (100) an enable signal at intervals equal to or greater than the number of clock signals corresponding to the number of sensor modules (100); a counter (203) which counts the number of clock signals; and a sensor signal input unit (205) into which data output by the sensor modules (100) is input via a bus line, and which records said data in association with the count value. Using the clock signal as a trigger, each sensor module (100) functions as a shift register feeding the enable signal to the subsequent stage sensor module (100), and each sensor module (100) outputs output data from the sensor unit (110) in said sensor module (100) to the sensor signal input unit (205) only when the enable signal has been fed to said sensor module (100).

High-speed cable drain wire system

A high-speed cable drain wire system includes a cable shield housing conductor(s), an insulator subsystem that surrounds the conductor(s), and drain wire subsystem(s) that each have at least one drain wire strand, and with each drain wire strand including a plurality of drain wires. The plurality of drain wires in each drain wire strand may be positioned in a side-by-side orientation or a twisted orientation, and when the at least one drain wire strand included a the plurality of drain wire strands, the plurality of drain wire strands in each drain wire subsystem may be positioned in a braided orientation or a twisted orientation. In response to routing the cable, a bend may be produced in the drain wire subsystem(s), and the plurality of drain wires in each drain wire strand are configured to experience a stress that is less than a stress threshold in response to the bend.

The invention provides a cable for power distribution and/or data transmission, the cable comprising a core comprising one or more metallic conductors and a sheath surrounding the core. the sheath being formed from a polymer having a tensile modulus of at least 1.5 GPa, wherein the outside diameter of the sheath is no more than 13.5 mm and the stiffness of the cable is at least 0.01 Nm.sup.2. Advantageously, embodiments of the cable can be readily blown and pushed through a microduct without deforming.
