AC Submarine Power Cable With Reduced Losses

A static AC submarine power cable configured for at least 72 kV operation including: a power core including: a conductor, an insulation system surrounding the conductor, and a smooth metallic water-blocking sheath surrounding the insulation system, wherein the metallic water-blocking sheath includes stainless steel.

Continuously Welded Capillary Tubing Over Insulated Conductor for ESP Applications

A method for manufacturing a motor lead cable includes the steps of forming one or more motor leads and placing external armor around the one or motor leads. The step of forming each of the one or more motor leads includes providing an insulated conductor, providing an open capillary tube that has opposing sides that have not been joined together, placing the insulated conductor inside the unclosed capillary tube, approximating the sides of the unclosed capillary tube around the insulated conductor, and welding the sides of the capillary tube together to form a closed capillary tube around the insulated conductor.

Cable moisture seal assemblies, systems and methods

A sealed cabled assembly includes a cable and a cable moisture seal assembly. The cable includes a cable subcore, a metal shield layer surrounding the cable subcore, and a jacket surrounding the metal shield layer. The cable subcore includes an electrical conductor surrounded by an electrical insulation layer. The cable moisture seal assembly includes a sealant, a electrically conductive jumper member, and an outer sleeve. The cable includes a sealing region section extending from a first axial end to a second axial end, and in which a section of the jacket and a section of the metal shield layer are removed to expose a section of the cable subcore. The insulation layer and the conductor extend through the sealing region section. First and second sections of the jacket extend away from the sealing region section in first and second opposed directions, respectively. First and second sections of the metal shield layer extend away from the sealing region section in the first and second opposed directions, respectively. The outer sleeve surrounds the sealing region section. The sealant is disposed radially between the cable subcore and the outer sleeve, and engages the cable subcore to form a moisture barrier in the sealing region section between the first and second sections of the jacket. The jumper member electrically connects the first and second sections of the metal shield layer.

POWER CABLES FOR ELECTRIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMP AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS THEREOF

A power cable (1) for an electric submersible pump (ESP) system, and systems and methods thereof are described herein. The power cable (12) is a weight-bearing three-phase power cable comprising a core (8) having an outer diameter and comprising three insulated conductors (2) substantially embedded in a polymeric bedding (3); and a multi-layered armor comprising an inner steel-based continuous tube (4) surrounding and in direct contact with the core (8), and an outer steel-based continuous tube (5) surrounding and in direct contact with the inner steel-based continuous tube (4). The inner steel-based continuous tube (4) and the outer steel-based continuous tube (5) are mechanical congruent with each other as a result of a roll reducing technique.

ELECTRICAL CABLE

An electrical cable includes a conductor assembly. The conductor assembly has a first conductor, a second conductor, and an insulator structure surrounding the first conductor and the second conductor. The first and second conductors carry differential signals. The insulator structure has an outer surface. The electrical cable includes a cable shield wrapped around the conductor assembly to form a longitudinal seam that extends a length of the electrical cable. The cable shield engages the outer surface of the insulator structure. The cable shield has a single shield layer as an overall shield covering for the conductor assembly. The cable shield does not include a sealing tape wrapped therearound.

A method of manufacture for a subsea power cable (100), includes the step of providing at least one cable core (125) having an electrical conductor (110) and an electrically insulating system (120) arranged radially outside of the electrical conductor (110). The method includes adding a liquid material having a polymer, on top of the at least one cable core (125), forming a buffer layer (130); and applying a water barrier (140) radially outside of the buffer layer (130).
