A device is used to sever an electrical power cable for the transmission of high voltage. The cable has an insulation sheath, a screening layer and a conductive layer. The device includes a first frame having a first cutting blade mounted thereon, a second frame, and a measuring device mounted on the second frame. The first cutting blade is movable relative to the measuring device. The measuring device is capable of measuring an electrical load on the electrical power cable and capable of terminating the severing of the electrical power cable. A method of using the device is also provided.

AUTOMATED ASSEMBLY SENSOR CABLE

An automated assembly sensor cable has a generally wide and flat elongated body and a registration feature generally traversing the length of the body so as to identify the relative locations of conductors within the body. This cable configuration facilitates the automated attachment of the cable to an optical sensor circuit and corresponding connector. In various embodiments, the automated assembly sensor cable has a conductor set of insulated wires, a conductive inner jacket generally surrounding the conductor set, an outer jacket generally surrounding the inner jacket and a registration feature disposed along the surface of the outer jacket and a conductive drain line is embedded within the inner jacket. A strength member may be embedded within the inner jacket.

A power cable 1 according to the present invention contains a propylene-based resin in a specific range as an insulating layer 13, and has a specific relationship between the cooling rate X at the time of manufacturing the interface portion in the insulating layer 13 with an inner semiconductive layer 12 and the cooling rate Y at the time of manufacturing the central portion of the insulating layer 13. Thus, not only the surface of the insulating layer 13 but also the inside of the insulating layer 13, the interface portion in the insulating layer 13 with the inner semiconductive layer 12, and the inside thereof are reliably cooled and cured. Therefore, the metal conductor 11 is not displaced from the center of the power cable 1 due to its own weight, and uneven thickness is less likely to occur.
