SWITCH WITH INTEGRAL OVERCURRENT PROTECTION
20230118335 · 2023-04-20 ·

A switch with an integrated overcurrent protection element can include multiple arc gap between the contacts when opening the circuit during overload protection and switching operations. The switch can include an overcurrent protection element which can make contact with two contact terminals, and which can change to a different shape upon exposure to an overcurrent condition. The overcurrent protection element can also be moved in a direction normal to the two contact terminals between a first position and a second position through the use of a rotary switch to selectively place the overcurrent protection element in contact with the two contact terminals.

Insertable pin for high voltage insulating covers
11651872 · 2023-05-16 · ·

A plastic retaining pin for being inserted through a retaining hole in a high voltage insulating cover has a compressible nose, with the wide part of the nose being larger than the retaining hole. The pin may be on the order of 3-12 inches long. The other end of the pin has a grasping ring for receiving the hook of a hot stick. Along the length of the body of the pin is a plurality of radial portions (e.g., six or more) extending outward from a centerline of the body. These radial portions may be skirts or ribs having a diameter less than the retaining hole in the cover. The skirts or ribs greatly increase the surface leakage distance along the body of the pin and also prevent conductive liquids flowing along the body, which may lead to a flashover.

Molded case circuit breaker with current sensing unit

A circuit breaker, and method of assembling the circuit breaker, includes a circuit breaker housing defining an interior portion, and which includes a molded base and a separable cover. The molded base includes an interior surface and an exterior surface. The exterior surface of the molded base is operatively disposed outside of the interior portion of the circuit breaker housing, and the exterior surface of the base defines at least one current sensing unit receiving cavity configured to receive a current sensing unit therein. The molded base and separable cover are cooperatively disposed to surround the interior portion of the circuit breaker housing.

Finger safe cover for a terminal of an electrical switching device
11676776 · 2023-06-13 · ·

The present disclosure relates to finger-safe requirements for breaker modules from electrical panel boards and envisages a finger safe cover 100a for a terminal of an electrical switching device 50. The finger safe cover comprises a cover body 110a with an expandable aperture section 120a. The aperture section 120a has an annulus 122a having a primary aperture 124a and a coupling section 126a surrounding the annulus 122a. The primary aperture 124a allows a thinner conducting cable 52 to pass therethrough. The coupling section 126a couples the annulus 122a with the cover body 110a. The aperture section 120a defines a secondary aperture 128a when the annulus 122a is detached from the cover body 110a by breaking the coupling section 126a, to allow to pass therethrough a thicker conducting cable 54. The cover 100a passes the IPXXB test, eliminates the need of safety accessories and is easy to install.
