Control devices having independently suspended buttons for controlled actuation
A control device includes a button assembly having one or more buttons and a button carrier that includes a plurality of resilient, independently deflectable spring arms. The control device may be configured as a wall-mounted keypad to control a load control device, or as a thermostat to control a temperature regulation appliance. The button carrier may be configured to prevent interference between the buttons during operation of the control device. The button assembly may be captured between a faceplate of the control device and a housing that is attached to a rear side of the faceplate. The control device may include one or more button retainers that are attached to the buttons and that are configured to align respective outer surfaces of the buttons relative to each other, and relative to the faceplate of the control device, when the buttons are in respective rest positions.
KEY STRUCTURE
A key structure, including a base plate, a thin film circuit, a dome switch, a scissor structure, an elastic piece, and a keycap, is provided. The thin film circuit is disposed on the base plate. The dome switch is disposed on the thin film circuit. The scissor structure is disposed on the base plate, wherein the scissor structure includes a first support and a second support pivotally connected to the first support, and the second support surrounds the first support. The first support has a trigger part, and the second support has a chamber disposed corresponding to the trigger part. The elastic piece is engaged inside the chamber, wherein the elastic piece has an interfering part located outside the chamber, and the interfering part is located on a moving path of the trigger part. The keycap is disposed on the scissor structure and the dome switch.

FORCE ACTIVATED ELECTRICAL SWITCH
A force activated electrical switch including a conductor that is screen printed on a first base and a conductor that is screen printed on a second base. The switch includes a plurality of nodes of dielectric material printed in a spaced apart pattern on at least one of the bases. The first base is positioned over the second base so that when a downward force is applied to the first base, the distance between at least a portion of the conductors decreases. The switch may be employed in a system that includes a controller operatively connected to the conductors. The controller includes a sensing circuit or processor configured to detect the presence of the occupant when the force is great enough to cause the conductors to contact one another, thereby activating the electrical switch.
