Fuse Cutout Monitoring and Indication Device
20170263406 · 2017-09-14 ·

A device for monitoring and indicating a fuse tube detachment from a fuse cutout assembly contains a structural body, a tilt switch, a power source, a visual indicator, and an attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism is used to mount the device onto the fuse tube. The tilt switch monitors the position of the fuse tube. More specifically, when the vertical position of the fuse tube changes to the dropped position the tilt switch is triggered. Thus, the visual indicator is illuminated. The illumination aids in the process of discovering the detached fuse tube. In addition to the visual indicator, the device can also be equipped with a wireless communication device and an alarm system. The wireless communication device can be used to provide the exact location of the detached fuse tube. On the other hand, the alarm system can be used to expedite the process of discovering the detached fuse tube.

Smart self-feeding fuse with current detection and communication

A smart, self-feeding fuse with current detection and communication capabilities for use in overhead medium voltage electrical distribution networks (15 kV to 34 kV). The device is configured to detect transient or permanent electric faults (sensor), and/or to be used as a communication device (gateway) that preserves the main protection function of the fuse element. The device is assembled on a base fuse and is simply installed by using a maneuver pole, similarly to the installation of a conventional fuse tube. The invention is self-fed by a high output current transformer with the help of photovoltaic cells, using a supercapacitor bank as the only power storage element.

MECHANICAL FUSE STRIKER

A strike pin assembly for a fuse assembly in which the strike pin assembly is maintained in a locked position by a holding force of a filament and an interference provided by a plurality of retention bodies. Upon a breakage of the filament, such as, for example, in response to heat generated by operation of a fuse element, a trigger can be displaced via a first biasing force in a distal direction such that the trigger is positioned at a location that does not impede an inward displacement of a plurality of retention bodies from a recess of a firing pin. Upon the inward displacement of the retention bodies, a second biasing force can displace the firing pin in the distal direction such that a portion of the firing pin can protrude out from an adapter of the strike pin assembly.

A fuse cutout cover is disclosed that allows a lineman to engage a metal hook assembly and pull ring of the cutout with a loadbreak tool. The cutout also includes a wire connector and a metal top connector that leads from the wire connector to the top of the fuse. A front opening in the cover allows easy access by a loadbreak tool over a wide range of angles. A roof of the cover extends beyond the sidewalls of the opening and covers an end of the top connector. An inner vertical wall of the cover has a bottom edge that rests on the top surface of the top connector to space the roof from the top connector to provide additional vertical clearance when positioning the loadbreak tool to engage the cutout. The wall also blocks access to the enlarged open to prevent birds from nesting in the opening.

The first and second insulators each extend between and couple the first end member and the second end member. The fused switch mechanism includes a fuse module and is configured to selectively alternatively electrically connect the first and second end members, and thereby the first and second cables, through the fuse module and disconnect the first and second end members.

Fuse, composite fuse, and electrical connection box

A fuse includes a first connection portion, a second connection portion, and a fixing portion connected to the leading end of the second connection portion. The fixing portion includes a fixing hole passing therethrough along a fixing axis extending in a first direction. The fixing portion has a plurality of fixing pieces arranged side by side in a circumferential direction centered on the fixing axis. Each fixing piece is formed in an arc shape centered on the fixing axis. The fixing portion has a level difference at each predetermined angle in the circumferential direction due to the plurality of fixing pieces being arranged so as to be shifted with respect to each other in the first direction, and is formed into an open annular shape that has a first annular end and a second annular end are spaced apart from each other at a predetermined interval.
