Systems and methods for utilizing pow switching to synchronize with a rotating load
A control system may include a processor that may receive a first dataset associated with power properties of a rotating load device coupled to a relay device. The processor may also determine frequency properties based on the power properties and determine a switching profile to control moving a first armature of three armatures in the relay device based on the frequency properties. The switching profile is configured to control movement of the first armature between a first position and a second position, and wherein the switching profile comprises a firing angle for moving the first armature with respect to an electrical waveform, a second armature, and a third armature. The processor may then control a current provided to a relay coil of the relay device based on the switching profile, such that the relay coil causes the first armature to move.
Systems and methods for relay contact assembly reduction
Systems and methods for contact erosion mitigation are provided. To perform contact erosion mitigation, an order of opening/closing poles and/or contact relays of particular poles is altered, resulting in a sharing of potential arcing conditions amongst the poles/contact relays of these poles.

PROTECTION UNIT FOR CONTROL/COMMAND UNITS OF AN ELECTRICAL ENCLOSURE
A protection unit, including a power switching device, with a mechanical switch. To improve the multipurpose nature of the power switching while making lockout easier and more reliable, provision is made for the power switching device to include an electrical actuator actuating the mechanical switch and being controlled by an electronic control unit, which is itself powered via an auxiliary switching device. A lockout system with a lock is provided, which, in a lockout configuration, mechanically keeps the mechanical switch and the auxiliary switching device in an isolation configuration, and, in operating configuration, allows the mechanical switch and the auxiliary switching device to move between the conduction configuration and the isolation configuration.
Systems and methods for controlling contactor open time
A device includes an armature, a coil, and a circuit. The armature is configured to move between a close position that electrically couples the armature to a contact and an open position that is not electrically coupled to the contact. The coil is configured to release a voltage configured to de-magnetize the coil, thereby causing the armature to move from the close position to the open position. The circuit is configured to provide reverse driving current to the coil during a period of time when the armature moves from the close position to the open position.
Modular multiple single-pole electromagnetic switching system and method
One embodiment describes a wye-delta starter, which includes a first single pole, single current carrying path switching device that selectively connects and disconnects a first winding of a motor in a wye configuration; a second single pole, single current carrying path switching device that selectively connects and disconnects the first winding in a delta configuration, in which the first switching device and the second switching device are coupled via a first interlock; a third single pole, single current carrying path switching device that selectively connects and disconnects a second winding and a third winding of the motor in the wye configuration; a fourth single pole, single current carrying path switching device that selectively connects and disconnects the second winding in the delta configuration, in which the third switching device and the fourth switching device are coupled via a second interlock; and a fifth single pole, single current carrying path switching device that selectively connects and disconnects the third winding in the delta configuration.
Detection of electric motor short circuits
One embodiment describes a method that includes determining a desired torque level of a motor actuated by a motor starter; determining, using a control system, a configuration of the motor starter to achieve the desired torque level, in which determining the configuration includes determining which of a plurality of switching devices in the motor starter should be opened and which should be closed; and instructing, using the control system, the motor starter to implement the determined configuration by opening or closing one or more of the plurality of switching devices.
Four-way automatic transfer switch
A system includes a first group of cassettes, each cassette including a first stationary bar, a first plurality of fixed contact members, and a first plurality of movable contact members, each of which is electrically coupled and rotatably connected to the first stationary bar and configured to contact one of the first plurality of fixed contact members. The system includes a second group of cassettes each including a second stationary bar, a second plurality of fixed contact members, and a second plurality of movable contact members, each of which is electrically coupled and rotatably connected to the second stationary bar and configured to contact one of the second plurality of fixed contact members. The system includes at least one operating mechanism to control opening and closing of the movable contact members. The first stationary bar is coupled to the second stationary bar.
Single-pole, single current path switching system and method
One embodiment describes a three-phase electromechanical switching device, which includes three single-phase switching devices mechanically and electrically coupled in parallel with one another, each single-phase switching device including a direct current electromagnetic operator that in operation receives a direct current control signal for switching of the device, stationary contacts disposed in a respective device housing, and a movable assembly that in operation is displaced by energizing the operator and that include movable contacts that open and close, with the stationary contacts, a single current carrying path through the respective single-phase switching device; in which each of the single-phase switching devices receives control signals from control circuitry coupled to the operators of the respective single-phase switching devices to cause at least one of the single-phase switching devices to open or close the single current carrying path at a desired time coordinated with a current zero-crossing or a predicted current zero-crossing of a phase of three-phase power.
Systems and methods for automatically configuring point-on-wave settings in a relay device
A control system may include a processor that may receive a first dataset associated with a type of load device coupled to a relay device. The processor may then receive a second dataset associated with one or more operations of the load device over a period of time. The processor may also determine a switching profile to control moving an armature of the relay device between a first position and a second position based on the first dataset and the second dataset, such that the switching profile comprises a firing angle for moving the armature with respect to an electrical waveform. The processor may then control a current provided to a relay coil of the relay device based on the switching profile.
