CROSSBAR ASSEMBLY AND TRIP ASSEMBLY COMPRISING SAME
A crossbar assembly and a trip assembly comprising same are disclosed. The crossbar assembly according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises a crossbar and an instant bar. The crossbar and the instant bar can be rotatably coupled so as to be rotatable around the same rotary shaft. Therefore, the space required for rotation can be reduced to be less than when the crossbar and the instant bar are individually rotated. In addition, the crossbar can move in a longitudinal direction when coupled to the instant bar. Therefore, a metallic bar for movement of the crossbar is unnecessary. Therefore, interference between different-phase currents flowing through the trip assembly can be minimized.
OVERLOAD CURRENT DETECTION IN A CIRCUIT INTERRUPTING DEVICE
A circuit interrupting device with overload current detection is provided. It comprises a hot conductor, a main contactor and a first electromagnetic device configured to remove power from an electrical circuit when overload current exceeds a predetermined % of a rated load current. It further comprises a section of conductor that generates heat and a thermal overload current detection mechanism including a temperature sensing switch having contacts. The temperature sensing switch closes the contacts when a temperature reaches a predefined temperature threshold corresponding to an overload current, in which case the temperature sensing switch electrically couples power to a second electromagnet which is disposed across the hot conductor and a connection to a neutral conductor. The energized second electromagnet generates a magnetic force capable of moving an armature that unlatches the latch releasing the spring to open the main contactor removing power from the electrical circuit.
ELECTROMAGNETIC ACTUATOR AND CIRCUIT BREAKER COMPRISING SUCH AN ACTUATOR
An electromagnetic actuator including a magnetic housing, a coil that is rigidly connected to the housing and is capable of being connected to an electric circuit, a magnetic core that is arranged in the coil and can move along a central axis defined by the coil and according to the strength or the current flowing in the coil, and a shunt that is arranged in the coil and includes a magnetocaloric material the magnetisation of which is temperature-dependent. The shunt is arranged is the coil along the central axis along a length so as to create an air gap between the shunt and the magnetic core. The actuator further includes a device for attaching the shunt to the housing that are designed to adjust said the length.
Overload current detection in a circuit interrupting device
A circuit interrupting device with overload current detection is provided. It comprises a hot conductor, a main contactor and a first electromagnetic device configured to remove power from an electrical circuit when overload current exceeds a predetermined % of a rated load current. It further comprises a section of conductor that generates heat and a thermal overload current detection mechanism including a temperature sensing switch having contacts. The temperature sensing switch closes the contacts when a temperature reaches a predefined temperature threshold corresponding to an overload current, in which case the temperature sensing switch electrically couples power to a second electromagnet which is disposed across the hot conductor and a connection to a neutral conductor. Circuit breaker
A circuit breaker includes a short-circuit trip and an overcurrent trip. The short-circuit trip has a trip coil, and the overcurrent trip has a bimetallic element. A first terminal of the trip coil is conductively connected to a fixed contact carrier of the circuit breaker. The bimetallic element is connected in series with the trip coil. The bimetallic element is connected at least indirectly to a first connection terminal of the circuit breaker, and the first connection terminal is connected to the fixed contact carrier by a bypass line.
Circuit interrupter and receptacle with temperature based trip
A circuit interrupter includes separable contacts, a trip actuator structured to cause the separable contacts to trip open, a conductor structured to carry power through the circuit interrupter, a sensor having a forward bias voltage drop inversely proportional to temperature and being disposed proximate the conductor, an amplifier circuit electrically connected to the sensor and being structured to amplify the forward bias voltage drop of the sensor, and a comparator circuit structured to compare the amplified forward bias voltage drop with a predetermined reference voltage and to output a signal to the trip actuator when the amplified forward bias voltage drop is less than or equal to the predetermined reference voltage. The signal causes the trip actuator to cause the separable contacts to trip open.
Electromagnetic actuator and circuit breaker comprising such an actuator
An electromagnetic actuator including a magnetic housing, a coil that is rigidly connected to the housing and is capable of being connected to an electric circuit, a magnetic core that is arranged in the coil and can move along a central axis defined by the coil and according to the strength of the current flowing in the coil, and a shunt that is arranged in the coil and includes a magnetocaloric material the magnetisation of which is temperature-dependent. The shunt is arranged in the coil along the central axis along a length so as to create an air gap between the shunt and the magnetic core. The actuator further includes a device for attaching the shunt to the housing that are designed to adjust the length.
CIRCUIT BREAKER
A circuit breaker includes a short-circuit trip and an overcurrent trip. The short-circuit trip has a trip coil, and the overcurrent trip has a bimetallic element. A first terminal of the trip coil is conductively connected to a fixed contact carrier of the circuit breaker. The bimetallic element is connected in series with the trip coil. CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER AND RECEPTACLE WITH TEMPERATURE BASED TRIP
A circuit interrupter includes separable contacts, a trip actuator structured to cause the separable contacts to trip open, a conductor structured to carry power through the circuit interrupter, a sensor having a forward bias voltage drop inversely proportional to temperature and being disposed proximate the conductor, an amplifier circuit electrically connected to the sensor and being structured to amplify the forward bias voltage drop of the sensor, and a comparator circuit structured to compare the amplified forward bias voltage drop with a predetermined reference voltage and to output a signal to the trip actuator when the amplified forward bias voltage drop is less than or equal to the predetermined reference voltage. The signal causes the trip actuator to cause the separable contacts to trip open.
CIRCUIT BREAKER COMPRISING A PASSIVELY HEATED BIMETAL ELEMENT ACTING ON A MAGNETIC YOKE OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC TRIPPING DEVICE
A circuit breaker has at least two terminal contacts which are electrically connected within the circuit breaker via a switching contact; an electromagnetic tripping device which acts on the switching contact and the coil of which is connected between the at least two terminal contacts; and a bimetal element acting on the switching contact, wherein, in the circuit breaker, the electrical connection between the at least two terminal contacts bypasses the bimetal element, and the bimetal element is thermally coupled to the electromagnetic tripping device, and the bimetal element indirectly acts on the switching contact via an iron circuit or magnetic yoke of the electromagnetic tripping device.
