An electromagnetic relay includes a first fixed terminal including a first fixed contact, a second fixed terminal including a second fixed contact, a movable contact piece including first and second contacts, a drive device including a coil, a case, and a magnet. The case includes an accommodation space accommodating the first fixed contact, the second fixed contact, and the movable contact piece, and a first arc extension space at least partially disposed between the coil and the magnet. The magnet is disposed so as to overlap with the coil in a third direction orthogonal to the moving direction and a longitudinal direction of the movable contact piece. The magnet configured to extend a first arc generated between the first fixed contact and the first movable contact and a second arc generated between the second fixed contact and the second movable contact in the longitudinal direction of the movable contact piece.

A switch includes: a first stationary contact having a first stationary contact point; a second stationary contact having a second stationary contact point; a movable contact having a first movable contact, and a second movable contact point; a first magnet pair defined by magnets having surfaces facing each other, the magnets of the first magnet pair being disposed with the first stationary contact point and the first movable contact point therebetween in such a manner that the magnets of the first magnet pair become farther from each other outwardly; and a second magnet pair defined by magnets having surfaces facing each other, the magnets of the second magnet pair being disposed with the second stationary contact point and the second movable contact point therebetween in such a manner that the magnets of the second magnet pair become farther from each other outwardly.

Described herein is a switch pole for a low voltage switching device including an insulating casing defining an internal space with a contact area and an arc-extinguishing area of the switch pole, a fixed contact assembly and a movable contact assembly positioned in the contact area and including, respectively, one or more fixed contacts and one or more movable contacts, which can be mutually coupled or uncoupled, and an arc chamber positioned in the arc-extinguishing area that includes a plurality of parallel arc-breaking plates. The insulating casing includes an insulating wall partially separating the contact area from the arc-extinguishing area and a channel connects the contact area to the arc-extinguishing area. The switch pole further includes an additional arc-breaking element anchored to the insulating wall, passing through the channel of the insulating wall and arranged in electrical connection with a terminal arc-breaking plate of the arc chamber.

An arc quenching device for a three-phase electrical switchgear. The device includes a first busbar, a second busbar and a third busbar, each of a respective phase of the three-phase switchgear. The device also includes a first piston and a second piston, each of an electrically conductive material. The device also includes at least one pyrotechnical actuator arranged with the first and second pistons to axially move each of the first and second pistons if the at least one pyrotechnical actuator is fired. The first and second pistons are arranged in relation to the first, second and third busbars such that said axial movement brings the first piston into contact with both the first busbar and the second busbar, and the second piston into contact with both the first busbar and the third busbar.

A compact disconnect device includes a magnetic arc deflection assembly including at least one set of stacked arc plates and at least one magnet disposed adjacent switchable contacts and establishing a magnetic field across the stacked arc plates. The magnetic arc deflection assembly facilitates reliable connection and disconnection of DC voltage circuitry well above 125 VDC with reduced arcing intensity and duration. The disconnect device may be a compact fusible switch disconnect device having dual sets of switch contacts in the same current path.

The splitter plates define an inlet of the extinction chamber that is to be present facing electric contacts, and a back of the extinction chamber. At least one permanent magnet is present inside the extinction chamber in a central zone in the width direction of the extinction chamber and beside the back thereof. The magnet presents magnetization having a non-zero component along an axis extending between the inlet and the back of the extinction chamber.
