Operating a particle beam device
A method of operating a particle beam device for imaging, analyzing and/or processing an object may be carried out, for example, by a particle beam device. The method may include: identifying at least one region of interest on the object; defining: (i) an analyzing sequence for analyzing the object, (ii) a processing sequence for processing the object by deformation and (iii) an adapting sequence for adapting the at least one region of interest depending on the processing sequence and/or on the analyzing sequence; processing the object by deformation according to the processing sequence and/or analyzing the object according to the analyzing sequence; adapting the at least one region of interest according to the adapting sequence; and after or while adapting the at least one region of interest, imaging and/or analyzing the at least one region of interest using a primary particle beam being generated by a particle beam generator.

A method for measuring electron mobility according to the present invention, which is performed by an apparatus comprising a chamber forming a sealed space, an electron gun provided in the chamber, and a metal sample disposed opposite to the electron gun in the sealed space, comprises: an electron irradiation step of irradiating the metal sample with electrons by the electron gun; a sample current measurement step of applying a voltage to the metal sample to measure a sample current obtained in the metal sample according to the applied voltage; a secondary electron current calculation step of calculating a secondary electron current through the measured sample current; and an effective incident current definition step of defining the sum of the measured sample current and the calculated secondary electron current as an effective incident current.
Multi-electron-beam imaging apparatus with improved performance
A multi-electron beam imaging apparatus is disclosed herein. An example apparatus at least includes an electron source for producing a precursor electron beam, an aperture plate comprising an array of apertures for producing an array of electron beams from said precursor electron beam, an electron beam column for directing said array of electron beams onto a specimen, where the electron beam column is configured to have a length less than 300 mm, and where the electron beam column comprises a single individual beam crossover plane in which each of said electron beams forms an intermediate image of said electron source, and a single common beam crossover plane in which the electron beams in the array cross each other.

The apparatus includes a multi-beam charged particle column comprising a source for creating multiple primary beams directed towards the sample, an objective lens for focusing the primary beams on the sample, an electron-photon converter unit having an array of electron to photon converter sections, each section is located next to a primary beam within a distance equal to a pitch of the primary beams at the electro-photon converter unit, a photon transport unit for transporting light from the electron to photon converter sections to a photo detector, and an electron collection unit for guiding secondary electrons created in the sample, towards the electron-photon converter unit. The electron collection unit is arranged to project secondary electrons created in the sample by one of said primary beams to at least one of the electron to photon converter sections.
