A cylindrical or flat far ultraviolet-C (UVC) 222 nm excimer lamp and a method for its manufacture are provided. The cylindrical or flat far UVC 222 nm excimer lamp can be used for safely sterilizing microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, or viruses) from the human body or otherwise, which can be used periodically or continuously. It comprises an anode inside of the lamp, a first insulator on the top of the anode, a second insulator above the first insulator with a height or distance, a connecting cover connecting the sides of the insulator the first with a second insulator for closing the gap or chamber, a valve on one side of the connecting cover for gas injection into the gap or chamber, and a cathode on the outside of the second insulator which is the same length and/or width as the anode.
Excimer lamp
In the excimer lamp according to the present invention, a flat discharge vessel having a substantially rectangular cross-sectional shape and comprising a pair of planar parts and a pair of side-surface parts has a pair of external electrodes disposed on the respective outer surfaces of the planar parts. The end parts of the external electrodes are provided with an auxiliary electrode extending to a region that is made smaller than the distance between the planar parts. A lead that supplies electricity to the external electrode is connected to the auxiliary electrode in the region that is made smaller than the distance between the planar parts.
LIGHT IRRADIATION DEVICE
A light irradiation device includes: a lamp that has a lamp back surface on which a lamp back surface electrode is provided, and a lamp major surface which faces the lamp back surface and on which a lamp major surface electrode is provided, and that emits light from the lamp back surface; a housing forming an internal space in which the lamp is disposed, together with a vacuum window that transmits the light emitted by the lamp; and a heat sink that discharges heat from the lamp. The heat sink is thermally connected to the lamp major surface. The housing includes a suction pipe joint serving as an inlet for compressed air to be supplied to the internal space, and a discharge pipe joint serving as an outlet for the compressed air that has received the heat from the heat sink.
Methods for fabricating gas discharge tubes
Methods for fabricating gas discharge tubes. In some embodiments, a method for fabricating a gas discharge tube (GDT) device can include providing or forming an insulator substrate having first and second sides and defining an opening. The method can further include providing or forming a first electrode and a second electrode. The method can further include forming a first glass seal between the first electrode and the first side of the insulator substrate, and a second glass seal between the second electrode and the second side of the insulator substrate, such that the first and second glass seals provide a hermetic seal for a chamber defined by the opening and the first and second electrodes.
