Methods and apparatus for providing an assembly including a base substrate, a lid substrate, and a ring frame between the base substrate and the lid substrate to define a protected volume, where the ring frame includes through vias. A die may be contained in the protected volume. Sensor circuitry can include conductive pillars in the protected volume and the die can include circuity to determine an impedance of the pad and the pillars for tamper detection. An edge cap can be coupled to at least one side of the assembly for tamper detection.

Methods and apparatus for providing an assembly including a base substrate, a lid substrate, and a ring frame between the base substrate and the lid substrate to define a protected volume, where the ring frame includes through vias. A die may be contained in the protected volume. Sensor circuitry can include conductive pillars in the protected volume and the die can include circuity to determine an impedance of the pad and the pillars for tamper detection. An edge cap can be coupled to at least one side of the assembly for tamper detection.

An electronic device having a unitary housing is disclosed. The device can include a first housing component having an open cavity, an internal electronic part disposed within the cavity, a second housing component disposed across the cavity, and a support feature disposed within the cavity and arranged to support the second housing component. The first housing component can be formed from metal, while the second housing component can be formed from a plurality of laminated foil metal layers. The second housing component can be attached to the first housing component via one or more ultrasonic welds, such that a fully enclosed housing is created. The fully enclosed housing can be hermetically sealed, and the outside surfaces thereof can be machined or otherwise finished after the ultrasonic welding.

An electronic device having a unitary housing is disclosed. A semiconductor package includes a substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface; a semiconductor die mounted on the top surface of the substrate; and a two-part lid mounted on a perimeter of the top surface of the substrate and housing the semiconductor die. The two-part lid comprises an annular lid base and a cover plate removably installed on the annular lid base.
