Electric Drive and Emergency Stop Switch for Boats
A boat having an electric motor coupled with an electrical store is disclosed. The electrical store includes a storage element, and positive and negative poles in current-conducting connection with the storage element. An isolating circuit element is operatively connected to a user activatable emergency stop switch. The isolating circuit element is configured to, upon activation of the emergency stop switch, isolate the current-conducting connection between the storage element and at least one of the poles.
BATTERY HAVING AT LEAST TWO BATTERY CELLS, AND MOTOR VEHICLE
A battery with at least two battery cells, which are connected by at least one electric connection element to one another, and a superordinate control device. Each of the battery cells is provided with at least one galvanic element, a battery cell housing for accommodating the galvanic element, at least one sensor device for detecting a physical and/or chemical feature of the battery cell, and a communication device for communicating with the superordinate device. The superordinate device is adapted to control an energy flow in at least one of the battery cells and/or from at least one of the battery cells as a function of the physical and/or chemical features of the battery cell. The invention further also relates to a motor vehicle with such a battery.
BATTERIES FOR USE IN IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICES
Multi-cell battery packs can be made safer with certain features that mitigate the consequences of cell failure. Parameters of a cell are monitored to determine when the cell should be disconnected from the pack in case of a fault. The battery is reconfigured to continue operating in a safer mode. An over-charging prevention system reduces the maximum voltage that remaining battery pack can be charged to, so that the cells do not overcharge. Additional circuitry allows the disconnected cell to be periodically reconnected to the battery pack to determine if its conditions have sufficiently improved. The cells also include components for self-powering these cell functions while it is disconnected from the rest of the circuit.
Modular battery systems for aircraft
A modular battery system provides propulsive power to the rotor system of an aircraft. The modular battery system includes an array of battery modules arranged in at least one stack. Each battery module includes a plurality of battery cells, a first side having positive and negative receptacles and a second side, that is opposite of the first side, having positive and negative plugs. The receptacles and plugs are configured such that adjacent battery modules in a side-by-side relationship are electrically coupled together via plug and receptacle connections and such that the battery modules are electrically coupled together in parallel. An interconnection electrically couples each stack of battery modules together via plug and receptacle connections with one of the battery modules in each stack such that the stacks of battery modules are electrically coupled together in parallel.
DIRECT COATING OF ELECTRODES IN SILICON-DOMINANT ANODE CELLS
Systems and methods are provided for high volume roll-to-roll direct coating of electrodes for silicon-dominant anode cells. A slurry that includes silicon particles and a binder material may be applied to a current collector film, and the slurry may be processed to form a precursor composite film coated on the current collector film. The current collector film with the coated precursor composite film may be rolled into a precursor composite roll. A heat treatment may be applied to the current collector film with the coated precursor composite film in an environment including nitrogen gas, to convert the coated precursor composite film to a pyrolyzed composite film coated on the current collector film. The heat treatment may include applying the heat treatment to the precursor composite roll in whole and/or applying the heat treatment to the current collector film with the coated precursor composite film as it is continuously fed.
SURFACE MODIFICATION OF SILICON-CONTAINING ELECTRODES USING CARBON DIOXIDE
Various implementations of a method of forming an electrochemical cell include providing a first electrode, a second electrode, a separator between the first and second electrodes, and an electrolyte in a cell container. The first electrode can include silicon-dominant electrochemically active material. The silicon-dominant electrochemically active material can include greater than 50% silicon by weight. The method can also include exposing at least a part of the electrochemical cell to CO.sub.2, and forming a solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer on the first electrode using the CO.sub.2.
Battery pack and charger platform for power tool systems including battery pack identification scheme
A battery pack and charger platform including a voltage coupling circuit comprising an input that receives an input voltage and an output that sends an output voltage, a voltage monitoring circuit having an input coupled to the voltage coupling circuit output and an output, and a power source having an input coupled to the voltage monitoring circuit output, the power source input receives an input voltage representative of a charge instruction.
Battery system configured to detect abnormal battery system conditions and method of the same
A battery system includes a battery module, a housing, a gas conveyor, and a gas sensor. The battery module is interconnected between a first system terminal and a second system terminal by a plurality of high current connectors, and the housing includes: a plurality of exterior walls enclosing the battery module and the plurality of high current connectors; and a partition wall within the housing. The gas conveyor is configured to circulate a gas flow through a flow channel loop formed within the housing by the partition wall and the exterior walls, and the gas sensor is arranged in the flow channel loop and is configured to detect an excess concentration of a gas species in the gas flow.
Software-configurable battery management systems and methods
Software-configurable battery monitoring and management systems and methods provide flexibility in selecting the location where the highest voltage in a block of cells is sensed so as to support control boards to connect to any number of cells. In certain embodiments, battery management is accomplished by measuring cell voltages in a block of cells in a battery stack, determining whether the battery stack comprises a bus bar, determining a sum of the individual cell voltages, and comparing the voltage at the top of a battery stack, including any bus bar, to the sum of the individual cell voltages to obtain a comparison result that may be used to perform a diagnostic procedure.
