Battery module and battery pack including same
A battery module, which includes at least one battery cell and a module case for packaging the at least one battery cell, wherein the module case includes: a top cover configured to cover an upper side of the at least one battery cell; and a side plate configured to cover all of opposing side surfaces of the top cover and opposing side surfaces of the at least one battery cell and configured to be coupled to the top cover by fitting.
Battery cover assembly, single-cell battery, battery module, power battery pack, and electric vehicle
A battery cover assembly includes a cover plate, an electrode inner terminal and an electrode outer terminal. The electrode inner terminal is electrically connected to the electrode outer terminal through a current interrupt structure disposed on the cover plate. The current interrupt structure includes a sealed chamber configured to fill a gas-producing medium therein. The sealed chamber is configured to make the gas-producing medium to be electrically connected to positive electrodes and negative electrodes of a battery. When a voltage difference between the positive electrodes and negative electrodes of the battery exceeds a rated value, the gas-producing medium is capable of producing gas, to disrupt the electrical connection between the electrode inner terminal and the electrode outer terminal under the action of the pressure of the gas.
THERMAL INSULATION OF A BATTERY HAVING AN ELEVATED OPERATING TEMPERATURE
A battery housing including at least one interior space for accommodating at least one battery, and including at least one contact element which, in a connection position, establishes a connection to a counter-contact element, the connection passing through the battery housing out of the interior space and/or into the interior space, the connection being cut off in an out-of-contact position with the counter-contact element, the counter-contact element being situated on an insulation component movable relative to the battery housing, which is movable from a first position, in which the counter-contact element and the contact element are in the connection position, into a second position, in which the counter-contact element and the contact element are in the out-of-contact position, the contact element being thermally insulated in the out-of-contact position by the insulation component.
Sealed sodium-based thermal batteries and methods of sealing same
The present application provides configurations, components, assemblies and methods for sealing cells of sodium-based thermal batteries, such as NaMx cells. In some embodiments the cells may include an integrated bridge member hermetically sealed to an electrically conductive case and a ceramic collar of the cell to hermetically seal an anodic chamber of the cell. In some embodiments the cells may include the ceramic collar hermetically sealed to an electrolyte separator tube of the cell to hermetically seal the anodic chamber of the cell. In some embodiments the anodic chamber may be defined, at least in part, by the case, integrated bridge member, ceramic collar and electrolyte separator tube. In some embodiments the cells may include a current collector hermetically sealed to the ceramic collar, and a cap member hermetically sealed to the current collector tube to hermetically seal a cathodic chamber of the cell.
LITHIUM-ION SECONDARY-BATTERY CASE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
A lithium-ion secondary-battery case that allows bonding without weld spatter and has high strength against external force acting on the battery case, and a method for manufacturing the lithium-ion secondary-battery case are provided. Specifically, an austenitic stainless steel foil is used for a cup component (2), and a two-phase stainless steel having an austenite transformation start temperature A.sub.C1 in a temperature increase process at 650° C. to 950° C. and an austenite and ferrite two-phase temperature range of 880° C. and higher, is used for a cover component (3), and the diffusion bonding is proceeded while accompanied by grain boundary movement upon transformation of the two-phase steel from a ferrite phase into an austenite phase within a heating temperature range of 880° C. to 1080° C.
Electrochemical cell cap
Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for implementing electrochemical energy storage devices using a liquefied gas electrolyte. The mechanical designs of an electrochemical device to house a liquefied gas electrolyte as well as methods of filling and sealing said device are presented.
Lithium Oxyhalide Electrochemical Cell Design For High-Rate Discharge
A novel wound electrode assembly for a lithium oxyhalide electrochemical cell is described. The electrode assembly comprises an elongate cathode of an electrochemically non-active but electrically conductive carbonaceous material disposed between an inner elongate portion and an outer elongate portion of a unitary lithium anode. That way, lithium faces the entire length of the opposed major sides of the cathode. This inner anode portion/cathode/outer anode portion configuration is rolled into a wound-shaped electrode assembly that is housed inside a cylindrically-shaped casing. A cylindrically-shaped sheet-type spring centered in the electrode assembly presses outwardly to limit axial movement of the electrode assembly. In one embodiment, all the non-active components, except for the cathode current collector, which is nickel, are made of stainless-steel. This provides the cell with a low magnetic signature without adversely affecting the cell's high-rate capability.
Lead-acid battery having container, positive and negative electrodes, lid, communication chamber, exhaust hole, and vent hole
A lead-acid battery is provided with a lid. A communication chamber is formed inside the lid. In the communication chamber, a first distance between an inner wall and a vent hole in a sidewall is shorter than a second distance between the inner wall and an exhaust hole, and a tip of the inner wall is formed below the vent hole in a direction opposite to the first direction.
Pouch-shaped battery case for secondary batteries capable of discharging gas
Disclosed herein is a pouch-shaped battery case, including an electrode assembly, an outer coating layer, a metal barrier layer, and an inner adhesive layer sequentially stacked with one another, a first adhesive layer interposed between the outer coating layer and the metal barrier layer, a second adhesive layer interposed between the metal barrier layer and the inner adhesive layer, an upper case and a lower case sealed to one another by thermal fusion at outer edges thereof, such that the electrode assembly is mounted between the upper case and the lower case, and a gas discharge member providing gas communication between an inside and an outside of the pouch-shaped battery case, the gas discharge member being disposed within a fused portion of the pouch-shaped battery case that is formed by the inner adhesive layer of the upper case and the lower case being thermally fused to one another.
