REFUELABLE BATTERY FOR THE ELECTRIC GRID AND METHOD OF USING THEREOF
Systems and methods of the various embodiments may provide a refuelable battery for the power grid to provide a sustainable, cost-effective, and/or operationally efficient solution to energy source variability and/or energy demand variability. In particular, the systems and methods of the various embodiments may provide a refuelable primary battery solution that addresses bulk seasonal energy storage needs, variable demand needs, and other challenges.
Large-scale metal-air battery with slurry anode
A battery and an associated method are provided for generating power using an air cathode battery with a slurry anode. The method provides a battery with an air cathode separated from an anode current collector by an electrically insulating separator and an extrusion gap. The anode current collector extruder has a first plate with a plurality of slurry outlet perforations, and a sleeve having a first partition immediately adjacent to the extruder first plate, with a plurality of slurry inlet perforations. Active slurry is provided under pressure to an extruder inlet, and the extruder first plate slurry outlet perforations are selectively aligned with sleeve first partition slurry inlet perforations. Active slurry deposits are formed in the extrusion gap to mechanically charge the battery. In the discharge position, the sleeve moves so that the perforations no longer align, and slurry in the extruder is isolated from slurry in the extrusion gap.

Recharger for hydrogen fuel cells
A recharger includes a manifold having an input to couple to a hydrogen generating module and an output port to couple to at least one rechargeable fuel cell. A vacuum pump is coupled to the manifold to evacuate the manifold. A valve is coupled to the manifold between the vacuum pump and the input of the manifold. A controller is coupled to control the vacuum pump and the valve, as well as an optional fan.
RAPID ELECTROLYTE REPLENISHMENT SYSTEM FOR AERIAL DRONES
A metal air battery electrolyte replenishment system comprised of a base station with docking receptor apparatus and matching docking probe on a flying drone. The probe onboard the drone has a sensor that guides the drone to connect with the electrolyte docking receptor on the base station. The drone uses the probe to obtain fresh electrolyte and simultaneously expel spent electrolyte into the base station while still in flight or during a brief landing. Rapid exchange of the electrolyte allows for extended range and flight time without penalty of onboard electrolyte reconditioning system and its associated weight.
Hybrid solid fuel battery with reduced power generation costs
A hybrid solid fuel battery system includes a power module having a module housing that stores reactive fuel plates, insulating separators and cathode rings. The reactive fuel plates are stacked together and electrically coupled together within the module housing. Each reactive fuel plate is partially covered by a non-reactive layer to form an exposed bottom portion. Each reactive fuel plate in the power module is separated from an adjacent reactive fuel plate by one of the insulating separators. Each cathode ring is secured around one of the reactive fuel plates within the module housing. A container storing an electrolyte solution is connected to the power module by a pipe. A controller connected to the container permits the electrolyte solution to flow to the interior of the module housing. This facilitates an interaction between the electrolyte solution and exposed bottom portions of the stacked reactive fuel plates, thereby generating electrical power.
