[Summary]

[Problems to be Solved] To provide a flight vehicle and a communication system which can relay communications between transmission and reception antennae that are located farther from each other by using antennae capable of receiving information transmitted from a transmission antenna located in a wider range than a range of a linear directed antenna can receive.

[Solution] A flight vehicle 1 according to the present invention comprises one or more linear array antennae (antennae 4); and a controller 2 configured to be capable to execute: a process of receiving information by one or more of the antennae 4, a process of outwardly transmitting said information by one or more of the antennae 4. In the communication system C of the present invention, which includes said flight vehicle 1, the transmission antenna T1 and the reception antenna R1 differ from each other. In the flight vehicle 1 of the present invention, it is preferable that the antennae 4 that receives the information and the antennae 4 that transmits the information differ from each other.

Monopole antenna assembly with directive-reflective control

An antenna assembly includes a driven element, a first set of antenna elements disposed a first distance from the driven element such that each element of the first set of antenna elements is equidistant from adjacent elements of the first set of antenna elements, and a second set of antenna elements disposed a second distance from the driven element such that each element of the second set of antenna elements is equidistant from adjacent elements of the second set of antenna elements, the second distance being larger than the first distance. The antenna assembly includes or is operably coupled to a selector module configured to select one element of the first set of antenna elements as a selected director, and select one element of the second set of antenna elements as a selected reflector by effectively shortening a length of the selected director and effectively lengthening the selected reflector.

QUICK CONNECTION ASSEMBLIES ESPECIALLY USEFUL FOR COUPLING AIRCRAFT ANTENNA FAIRINGS TO AIRFRAME STRUCTURES

Aircraft antenna fairing assemblies include a fairing shell and connection components for positionally fixing the fairing shell to airframe structure of an aircraft. The connection components may comprise a guide assembly having a guide head and a receiver defining a guide channel for receiving the guide head therewithin, and a latch assembly for latching the fairing shell to the airframe structure of the aircraft. The receiver of the guide assembly may define a generally C-shaped or generally U-shaped channel for receiving the guide head therewithin.

Apparatuses and methods are provided including radome designs with tailorable through thickness reinforcement (TTR) or transverse members that increase mechanical durability of the reinforced radomes against an applied forces while providing desired radar transmissive performance matched to a particular environment. Embodiments provided allow for greater mechanical durability while maintaining sensitive RF performance across the entire structure. TTR in the embodiments include composite rods, fibers, fiber bundles, tows, or a combination of these options. The TTR can be placed through the core or both the skins and the core, and the TTR can be continuous threads of materials.

MECHANICALLY STEERED AND HORIZONTALLY POLARIZED ANTENNA FOR AERIAL VEHICLES, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20170301987 · 2017-10-19 ·

A mechanically steered, horizontally polarized, directional antennae for aerial vehicles, such as UAVs. The antenna system can include a planar substrate with a horizontally polarized antenna embedded therein. A rotation member, on one end, can be attached to the planar substrate, and can extend from an external surface of the aerial vehicle. An actuator can be coupled to the rotation member to rotate the rotation member. A communication controller of the aerial vehicle can control the actuator to beam horizontally polarized radiofrequency (RF) waves to a target receiver or receive a wave front from a target transmitter.

An antenna assembly includes a circularly polarized antenna housing configured to mount to a mounting surface. The antenna assembly also includes a vertical antenna housing having a first end proximate to the circularly polarized antenna housing, as well as a distal end extending normally from the circularly polarized antenna housing.

Dual beam transmit system for analog beamforming airborne satellite communications

A satellite communication assembly includes a transmit antenna array including a matrix of antenna elements, a receive antenna array, and a transmit circuit for the transmit antenna array. The transmit circuit includes, for each of the antenna elements, a first splitter, a second splitter, a first pair of phase shifters, a second pair of phase shifters, a first pair of variable gain amplifiers, a second pair of variable gain amplifiers, a first pair of power amplifiers, a second pair of power amplifiers, a first combiner, and a second combiner.

Radio-frequency seal at interface of waveguide blocks

The described features include a scalable waveguide architecture for a waveguide device. The waveguide device may be split into one or more waveguide blocks instead of manufacturing increasingly larger single-piece waveguide devices. Described techniques provide for a radio-frequency (RF) seal between such waveguide blocks that may facilitate greater manufacturing tolerances while maintaining an effective RF seal at the junction of the waveguide blocks. The described techniques include channels within one or more waveguide blocks opening to the dielectric gap between the waveguide blocks. The channels may, for each of multiple waveguides joined at the interface between waveguide blocks, be included in one or both waveguide blocks and may be in a single waveguide dimension relative to the multiple waveguides, or extend for more than one waveguide dimensions.

ESA QUADRANT MECHANICAL RECONFIGURATION

A system and method for ESA quadrant mechanical reconfiguration functions to shift some of the complexity from algorithmic manipulation of received radar data to mechanical transformation of a simple panel structure to achieve desired performance in a desired ESA boresight. The system receives a rotation trigger based on an external event such as altitude and mission and causes two or more simple ESA panels to rotate from a first azimuthal position to a second common azimuthal position without stopping at an intermediate azimuth. Once positioned, each individual rotational ESA panel is combined to function as a single aggregate ESA enabling desired performance in field of view, resolution, and range along a common boresight.
