Directional coupler feed for flat panel antennas

Antennas such as flat panel, leaky wave antennas with directional coupler feeds and waveguides are disclosed. In one example, an antenna includes a surface having antenna elements, a guided wave transmission line, and a coupling surface. The guided wave transmission line provides a guided feed wave. The coupling surface is between and separates the guided wave transmission line and the surface having antenna elements. The coupling surface controls coupling of the guided feed wave to the antenna elements. The coupling surface can also spatially filter the guided feed wave to provide a more uniform power density for the antenna elements. The guided feed wave can be a high power density electromagnetic wave or a density radially decaying electromagnetic wave.

MULTIBAND RESONATOR ELEMENT FOR MAKING FILTERS, POLARIZERS AND FREQUENCY-SELECTIVE SURFACES

A multiband resonator element which, on the one hand, compensates the components of an electromagnetic field radiated from its phase centre, located on the axis of symmetry of the resonator, to control the polarization purity of a radiating element. On the other hand, it enables the selection of the electromagnetic fields reflected and transmitted on a frequency- and multiband-selective surface. In this sense, this is an innovative element that enables the design of directive radiating elements and with an axial ratio for its circular polarization less than or equal to 1.5 dB for all the angles belonging to the hemisphere centred on broadside. Thus, it can be used in the design of reflectarrays, transmitarrays and any dichroic multiband surface, likewise on metamaterial surfaces.

The first resonator and the second resonator are non-radiative structures having a resonant frequency. The system also includes an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) having the resonant frequency and arranged within the system to shape the near-field of at least one of the first resonator and the second resonator. The AMC includes a layer of unit cells arranged in a periodic pattern enabling the AMC to reflect the near-field. Each unit cell of the AMC includes a plurality of electronic components.

In one embodiment, an antenna system includes a device for attenuating undesirable radiation from an antenna. The device includes a perimeter plate adapted to be located around the perimeter of the antenna. The perimeter plate has one or more concentric perimeter bands, where each perimeter band comprises an array of distinct EM-field-suppressing features. The surface of each suppressing features is metallic. The dimensions, arrangement, and number of the suppressing features are such that the features form a meta-material and the perimeter plate attenuates back-lobe and/or side-lobe radiation generated by the antenna.

Antenna reflector phase correction film and reflector antenna

The disclosure relates to an antenna reflector phase correction film and a reflector antenna.
