DUAL RESONANT WEARABLE ANTENNA

A resonant wearable antenna system includes a ground plane and an antenna structure positioned over the ground plane. The ground plane includes a first cloth substrate and an array of metamaterial (MTM) unit cells positioned on the substrate. At least one MTM unit cell includes four four-leaf-clover units arranged in a four-leaf-clover pattern and connected to a center unit. Each four-leaf-clover unit includes four leaf units arranged in a four-leaf-clover pattern and connected to a subcenter unit. The antenna structure includes a second cloth substrate and a conductive pattern positioned over the second cloth substrate. The antenna structure is configured to have a first resonant frequency below 1 GHz and a second resonant frequency higher than the first resonant frequency. The array of MTM unit cells is configured to reflect incident waves, from the antenna structure at the first resonant frequency and the second resonant frequency, in-phase.

The isolator module is mountable on the metal plate and includes a plurality of isolators that are in a ring configuration to form an isolated space therein, so that the background scanning antenna can be located in the isolated space and a plurality of working antennas are located outside of the isolated space, thereby ensuring good isolation of the background scanning antenna from the working antennas by the design of the isolator module.

The grounding plate is arranged on the second surface of the substrate and overlaps with the reflective plates in a normal direction of the substrate. The radiating member is on the second surface of the substrate and does not overlap with the reflective plates in the normal direction of the substrate. The radiating member has an open slot which is defined by a first radiating branch and a second radiating branch that generate at least two different operating frequency bands. The conductive vias respectively penetrate the substrate and connect with the reflective plates and the grounding plate.

The grounding plate is disposed on the second surface of the substrate and overlapped with the reflective plates in a normal direction of the substrate. The grounding plate further includes an opening. The radiating member is disposed on the first surface of the substrate and physically separated from the reflective plates. The signal feeding via is coupled with the radiating member and penetrates through the substrate to be exposed in the opening of the grounding plate. The conductive vias penetrate through the substrate and respectively connect the reflective plates and the grounding plate.

The present invention provides a radio frequency module including: an interposer; a plurality of antenna element groups that include first electrodes and a second electrode and are configured such that the first electrodes are aligned in line shapes in at least a first direction on a first surface of the interposer; and meta material portions that are provided at the interposer and affect electromagnetic properties of the plurality of antenna elements. The meta material portions include electromagnetic band gap structures provided by forming predetermined geometric patterns near both sides of the first electrodes along at least the first direction. The radio frequency module can thus have a reduced size and a broad band/a high gain.
