The radiation assembly for the waveguide array antenna comprises: a first radiation layer having a plurality of first radiation windows, each of the plurality of first radiation windows has a metal grid that divides the corresponding first radiation window into two radiation holes; and a second radiation layer having a plurality of second radiation windows, the plurality of second radiation windows has a one-to-one correspondence with the plurality of first radiation windows, and the plurality of second radiation windows of the second radiation layer do not have a metal grid. The thickness of the second radiation layer is greater than the thickness of the first radiation layer, and the first radiation layer and the second radiation layer are manufactured independently of each other.

A cross-sectional profile of the housing may conform to a polygon other than any rectangle. A configuration of the housing and hardware interfaces may facilitate the formation of an antenna assembly arrangement other than that of any rectilinear array. In another embodiment, communication devices of the antenna assembly each conform to a triangle or a hexagon.

Each of the RF elements associated with a given lens produces an output beam with an output area. Each lens is positioned with the other lenses in a staggered arrangement. The antenna includes a control mechanism configured to enable a user to move the RF elements along their respective tracks, and automatically phase compensate the output beams produced by the RF elements based on the relative distance between the RF elements.
