The super-broadband waveguide feed includes an RX polarizer configured to couple to an end of the aperture port. The super-broadband waveguide feed is configured to be fabricated in one to three pieces composed of a single split plane on the zero-current region, and the super-broadband waveguide feed is circularly polarized.

In one embodiment, an antenna comprises: an antenna aperture with radio-frequency (RF) radiating antenna elements; and a center-fed, multi-band wave guiding structure coupled to the antenna aperture to receive a feed wave in two different frequency bands and propagate the feed wave to the RF radiating antenna elements of the antenna aperture.

Beam forming using an antenna arrangement

There are provided mechanisms for beam forming using an antenna array comprising dual polarized elements. A method comprises generating one or two beam ports. The one or two beam ports are defined by combining at least two non-overlapping subarrays. Each subarray has two subarray ports. The two subarray ports have identical power patterns and mutually orthogonal polarizations. The at least two non-overlapping subarrays are combined via expansion weights. The expansion weights and map the one or two beam ports to subarray ports such that the one or two beam ports have the same power pattern as the subarrays. At least some of the expansion weights have identical non-zero magnitude and are related in phase to form a transmission lobe. The method comprises transmitting signals using said one or two beam ports.

A method of forming a self-aligned waveguide is provided. The method includes forming a first alignment feature on a packaged semiconductor device and a second alignment feature on a waveguide structure. A solder material is applied to the first alignment feature or the second alignment feature. The waveguide structure is placed onto the packaged semiconductor device such that the second alignment feature overlaps the first alignment feature. The solder material is reflowed to cause the waveguide structure to align with the packaged semiconductor device.

The at least one antenna assembly has a plurality of antennas coupled in series and includes a solitary millimeter-wave wideband patch antenna as a terminal antenna in the series. The millimeter-wave wideband patch antenna comprises a main patch and two rectangular impedance stabilizing elements. The two rectangular impedance stabilizing elements are symmetrically disposed at a coupling distance from the main patch and extend parallel to the main patch. One of the two rectangular impedance stabilizing elements is disposed on one side of the main patch and the other of the two rectangular impedance stabilizing elements is disposed on an opposing side of the main patch. A width of each of the two rectangular impedance stabilizing elements is less than half of a width of the main patch.
