TECHNIQUES FOR ANGLE RESOLUTION IN RADAR
A radar apparatus for estimating position of a plurality of obstacles. The radar apparatus includes a receive antenna unit. The receive antenna unit includes a linear array of antennas and an additional antenna at a predefined offset from at least one antenna in the linear array of antennas. The radar apparatus also includes a signal processing unit. The signal processing unit estimates an azimuth frequency associated with each obstacle of the plurality of obstacles from a signal received from the plurality of obstacles at the linear array of antennas. In addition, the signal processing unit estimates an azimuth angle and an elevation angle associated with each obstacle from the estimated azimuth frequency associated with each obstacle.
Method and system for polarization adjusting of orthogonally-polarized element pairs
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining data regarding interference detected in a received communication signal, and performing polarization adjusting for one or more orthogonally-polarized element pairs of an antenna system such that an impact of the interference on the antenna system is minimized. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Distributed Control System for Beam Steering Applications
A technique is described where the switch and/or tunable control circuit for use with an active multi-mode antenna is positioned remote from the antenna structure itself for integration into host communication systems. Electrical delay and impedance characteristics are compensated for in the design and configuration of transmission lines or parasitic elements as the active multi-mode antenna structure is positioned in optimal locations such that significant electrical delay is introduced between the RF front-end circuit and multi-mode antenna. This technique can be implemented in designs where it is convenient to locate switches in a front-end module (FEM) and the FEM is located in vicinity to the transceiver.
Radar system for jammed environments
A radar system and method for maintaining radar performance of radar system in jammed environment are provided. The radar system has main antenna arrangement for transmitting and/or receiving electromagnetic waves. Main antenna arrangement includes at least one main antenna element and at least one main electronics module for transmitting and/or receiving signals to/from at least one main antenna element. The system has auxiliary antenna arrangement for transmitting and/or receiving electromagnetic waves, auxiliary antenna arrangement includes at least one auxiliary antenna element and at least one auxiliary electronics module for transmitting and/or receiving signals to/from the at least one auxiliary antenna element. System has a controller connected to main antenna arrangement and to auxiliary antenna arrangement. Controller is configured to transmit first radar waveform from main antenna element, and transmit second radar waveform from auxiliary antenna element.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE, METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ELECTRONIC DEVICE, AND PROGRAM
An electronic device includes an array antenna and a controller. The array antenna includes a plurality of antenna elements. The controller is configured to exercise control to transmit and/or receive a radio wave through the array antenna. The controller controls directivity of the array antenna and compensates at least partially for reception sensitivity at a null point in the directivity of the array antenna by using a predetermined antenna element of the array antenna.
ARRAY ANTENNA
An array antenna includes a dielectric substrate, and a plurality of radiating elements being arranged linearly and provided on a first face of the dielectric substrate, each of the plurality of radiating elements having linear polarization and a rotation reference point, wherein one or more radiating elements included in the plurality of radiating elements are rotated differently with respect to the corresponding rotation reference positions each other.
PASSIVE-RADIO FREQUENCY BLOCKING OF SIDE-LOBE READS
A radio-frequency (RF) identification (RFID) system provides side-lobe blocking (SLB) functionality. The RFID system modifies a first RF signal to provide a modified signal. The first RF signal has an RF carrier frequency according to an RFID protocol, and a main directional antenna in the RFID system has a first main lobe extending in a first direction and is configured to radiate a first signal for reading one or more RFID tags according to the RFID protocol. The RFID system then provides the modified signal as an SLB signal to a secondary directional antenna having a second main lobe extending in a second direction different than the first direction to radiate a second signal toward one or more stray RFID tags.
ANTENNA CONFIGURATION FOR PARKING ASSIST RADAR
A method of estimating position of an obstacle of a plurality of obstacles with a radar apparatus. An azimuth frequency, an elevation frequency and a range of the obstacle are estimated to generate an estimated azimuth frequency, an estimated elevation frequency and an estimated range of the obstacle. A metric is estimated from one or more of the estimated azimuth frequency, the estimated elevation frequency and the estimated range of the obstacle. The metric is compared to a threshold to detect an error in at least one of the estimated azimuth frequency and the estimated elevation frequency. On error detection, a sign of at least one of the estimated azimuth frequency and the estimated elevation frequency is inverted to generate a true estimated azimuth frequency and a true estimated elevation frequency respectively.
Hierarchically elaborated phased-array antenna modules and faster beam steering method of operation
An apparatus substantially updates all the phase shifter values of a phased array antenna by using “global write” to update these parameters to all phased-array transformation circuits simultaneously via a serial bus. Antenna elements, each controlled by a phased-array transformation circuit, are individually configured to transform phase and gain according to a register array. The register array has a local register group and a central register group, the local registers physically placed close in proximity to RF chains which each correspond to an element of array antenna, whereby each set of local registers control an individual antenna element and a central register controlling overall beam steering function. The apparatus is configured to efficiently elaborate phase shift weights into a submodule of a phase array antenna system with low noise and bandwidth.
