A connector for providing an electrical connection between at least one terminating mating terminal to a substrate. The connector includes a housing having at least one terminal receiving cavity. A receptacle terminal is positioned in the at least one terminal receiving cavity. The receptacle terminal has a latching projection which cooperates with the at least one mating terminal to retain the at least one mating terminal in electrical engagement with the receptacle terminal when the at least one mating terminal is fully inserted in the at least one terminal receiving cavity. A release mechanism is provided in the housing in line with the latching projection of the receptacle terminal, the release mechanism is configured to cooperate with the receptacle terminal to depress the latching projection when the at least one mating terminal is to be removed from the at least one terminal receiving cavity.
Connector terminal and connector
Provided is a connector terminal which includes: a mounting portion having a flat surface in a width direction and a depth direction; a holding target portion formed continuously to the mounting portion, formed in an inverted U-shape in a height direction; a base portion formed continuously to the holding target portion and having a flat surface in the width direction and the depth direction; and an elastic arm portion formed continuously to the base portion, having a standing portion extending in the height direction, and having a length in the width direction, in which a length of the standing portion in the width direction is approximately maximum among lengths of the connector terminal in the width direction.

Contact
A contact includes a hollow box-shaped main body portion into which a plate-shaped counterpart contact is inserted in an insertion direction. A pair of inward slantwise elastic piece portions are provided in a manner extending in the insertion direction from a pair of opposed edge portions of the insertion opening of the main body portion into the main body portion. The pair of elastic piece portions have contact portions arranged in mutually proximal portions. A pair of restricting portions provided on the main body portion are arranged to restrict the amount of deformation of the pair of elastic piece portions when the counterpart contact is inserted.
FIELD INSTALLABLE CARD EDGE CONNECTOR
A field installable connector that conforms to standard physical requirements while providing high performance at high speeds. The connector includes a housing holding conductive elements configured for pressure mount to a printed circuit board. The housing has a mating surface, a mounting surface opposite the mating surface in a vertical direction, and a slot extending through the mating surface. Each conductive element has a mating end curving into the slot, and a mounting end extending out of the mounting surface at an angle to the vertical direction. The mounting end has a contact surface configured to make contact with a contact pad on the board. The housing includes holes aligned with holes of the board such that a connecting member can extend through the aligned holes to secure the housing to the board and provide force for sufficient contact between conductive elements and respective contact pads.
