Method for Festooning a Power Cable
20230006429 · 2023-01-05 ·

The present disclosure relates to a method for festooning a power cable while deploying it in a deployment site comprising a rail having a start and an end, the method comprising the steps of: providing the cable with a plurality of cable holders slidably movable along the rail, each two consecutive holders being spaced at a holder predetermined distance on the cable; providing a festooning apparatus after the start of the rail, the festooning apparatus comprising a lowering device movable between a raised position and a lowered position; deploying the cable along the rail by repeating the following sub-steps: engaging on the rail one holder after the other and moving them thereon; when one holder oversteps the festooning apparatus, operating the festooning apparatus to move the lowering device from the raised position towards the lowered position, thus engaging the cable at a point between two consecutive holders; when the lowering device reaches the lowered position, obtaining a sagged portion of cable and a shortening of the holder predetermined distance; operating the festooning apparatus to move the lowering device from the lowered position towards the raised position, thus disengaging it from the cable; fixing the shortened holder predetermined distance between two consecutive holders at each side of the sagged cable portion; and advancing the sagged cable portion along the rail.

Installation of pre-ducted optical fiber cable assembly

The present disclosure relates to method for underground installation of a pre-ducted optical fiber cable assembly. The method includes a first step of drilling a first pilot bore from a second manhole to a first manhole. In addition, the method includes a second step of pulling the pre-ducted optical fiber cable assembly. Further, the method includes a third step of drilling a second pilot bore from a third manhole to the second manhole. Furthermore, the method includes a fourth step of pulling the pre-ducted optical fiber cable assembly from the second manhole to the third manhole. Moreover, the method of underground installation of the pre-ducted optical fiber cable assembly eliminates the need for blowing the pre-ducted optical fiber cable assembly with a cable blowing machine.

Apparatus and method for installing wire behind existing walls
11557889 · 2023-01-17 · ·

A system for pulling wire behind a wall is provided. One embodiment comprises a cylindrical weight defined by an outside diameter and a first length, and a tubular body with a hollow interior defined by an inside diameter that is greater than the outside diameter of the cylindrical weight and a second length that is greater than the first length. A distal end of the tubular body includes a tip configured to penetrate a material that is behind the wall, wherein when oriented in a vertical position behind the wall, and wherein in response to drawing the cylindrical weight upward through the tubular body and then releasing the cylindrical weight, the cylindrical weight travels downward towards the distal end of the tubular body and impacts the tip such that momentum of the downward travelling cylindrical weight is transferred to the tip, thereby driving the tubular body downward through the material.
