A strain release connector for an overhead electrical wire includes a first connector part securable to the overhead electrical wire with a fixed clamping force, and a second connector part cooperable with the first connector part and securable to a service cable with an adjustable clamping force, less than the fixed clamping force. The second connector part has at least one strain adjustment screw for modifying the adjustable clamping force. The adjustable clamping force is set by the at least one strain adjustment screw such that the second connector part is configured to release the service cable upon an application of a predetermined tension force.

AVIAN STREAMER DETERRENT FOR ELECTRIC POWER LINE SUPPORT STRUCTURES
20210360912 · 2021-11-25 ·

An avian streamer deterrent system includes an electric power line support structure coupled to a plurality of conducting wires. Each conducting wire of the plurality of conducting wires is coupled to an insulator. At least one avian streamer deterrent is disposed above the insulator of at least one of the conducting wires of the plurality of conducting wires. The at least one avian streamer deterrent may be disposed on a that is absent an insulator and situated above the plurality of conducting wires. The at least one avian streamer deterrent or an additional avian streamer deterrent may extend over one or more jumpers coupling at least a first conducting wire of the plurality of conducting wires to a second conducting wire of the plurality of conducting wires. In addition, the at least one avian streamer deterrent may comprise a rotatable configuration or a collapsible configuration.

Helical jumper connector

A helical jumper connector includes a helical support member configured to support a wire. The helical support member includes a first leg having a first helical winding and a second leg having a second helical winding that defines a second axial opening. The first axial opening and the second axial opening are coaxial with the wire when the first helical winding and the second helical winding are wrapped around the wire and cooperatively engage with one another to support the wire. A jumper casting is configured to receive the helical support member. The helical support member and the jumper casting are electrically conductive such that the helical jumper connector forms an electrically conductive pathway to carry electrical current from the wire. A method of making a helical jumper connector assembly includes applying a compression force to a helical jumper connector comprising a helical support member received in a jumper casting.

Mounting device, line surge arrester unit and method for mounting a line surge arrester on a power tower

A mounting device for mounting a line surge arrester on a power tower includes a base having at least one fastening structure for fastening to a tower-side component, and a joint unit for positioning the line surge arrester. The joint unit has a joint for pivoting the line surge arrester about a joint axis. At least one position is a mounting position and at least one other position is a working position of the line surge arrester. The mounting device furthermore has parts of a drive mechanism. The parts are permanently connected to the base and/or to the joint, for driving the pivoting of the line surge arrester. A line surge arrester unit includes a line surge arrester and the mounting device. A method provides for mounting a line surge arrester on a power tower.

INSULATING CROSS ARM AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF, AND TRANSMISSION POLE

The present disclosure discloses an insulating cross arm and a preparation method thereof, and a transmission pole. The insulating cross arm includes: an integrally cast connecting fitting including an intermediate connecting part and two sleeves respectively disposed at opposite ends of the intermediate connecting part; a core rod including a first core rod and a second core rod, an end of the first core rod and an end of the second core rod being respectively fixed in the two sleeves; two wire attaching fittings respectively fixed to another end of the first core rod and another end of the second core rod; and an insulating layer coated on and fixed to an outer peripheral surface of the core rod. The insulating layer is located in other regions, and the insulating layer is connected with both the connecting fitting and the wire attaching fittings in a sealing way.

System, method and apparatus for positioning and training flexible jumpers

The present invention includes a flexible jumper jig which is reconfigurable to replicate the end positions of a flexible jumper as it would be on an installed substation. According to a further preferred embodiment, an exemplary system of the present invention may include a framework forming three orthogonal axes and repositionable tooling mounts for end fittings. According to another aspect of the present invention, an x-axis oriented rail may preferably hold a tooling mount which is configurable to be rotated about its axis to allow for alternate tooling mount orientations. Further, a y-axis oriented rail may be perpendicular to the x-axis rail and may be fixed. Still further, a z-axis oriented rail may be perpendicular to and slide along the y-axis rail. Additionally, a second tooling mount may be attached to the z-axis rail.
