Electric Grill With Current Protection Circuitry
Provided is an apparatus and method for protecting against unsafe electric current conditions. A protections circuit may be used in a device, as an electric grill, that has one or more electric loads, such as heating elements. The protection circuit may protect against various failure scenarios, including, without limitation, instances of ground fault, over current, driver failure, and failure of a microprocessor. In response to a failure, the protection circuit may trip a latch relay or disable a triac driver to stop current from flowing.
GROUND FAULT INTERRUPT AND USB POWER SUPPLY ELECTRICAL WIRING DEVICE
An electrical wiring device including a ground fault interrupt assembly, the ground fault interrupt assembly comprising a ground fault interrupt circuit, being formed on a first printed circuit board, and a trip mechanism, the ground fault interrupt circuit being configured to detect a differential current between the line conductor and the neutral conductor and to trigger the trip mechanism to electrically decouple the plurality of line terminals from the plurality of load terminals, according to a predetermined criterion, based, at least in part, on the different current; and a USB power supply circuit being formed on a second printed circuit board disposed within the compartment, the USB power supply circuit providing to the at least one USB port, wherein the first printed circuit board and the second printed circuit board are separated by a distance within the inner compartment.
RESIDUAL CURRENT CIRCUIT BREAKER
The present invention relates to a residual current circuit breaker, RCCB, (100) for an electrical circuit (300). The RCCB comprises a first switching device (106) and a second switching device (140) coupled in series with each other between the power supply (302) and the load (304). The first switching device (106) is configured to switch into an OFF mode, in which no current is fed to the load (304), upon detecting that a value of a current i fed to the load (304) is larger than a switching current is of the first switching device (106). The second switching device (140) is configured to switch into an ON mode, in which the load (304) is short cut, upon detecting a leakage of the current i fed to the load (304). Thereby, a novel RCCB architecture is provided. When a current leakage is detected a short cut is introduced which means that the voltage will be zero over the load and no person will be harmed by the current in the circuit. Flowever, when the load is short cut there will be a current rush in the circuit which will trigger the first switching device to break the circuit and no current will thereafter flow in the circuit. The invention also relates to a circuit comprising such a residual current circuit breaker and a corresponding method.
APPARATUS, METHOD, AND SYSTEM FOR REMOTE CONTROL OF GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTERS (GFCIS) IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
Conventional GFCI-type technology typically relies solely on onsite control—for example, pushing a reset button physically located at the impacted circuit to clear a trip and resume operation. For simpler/lower voltage systems—such as outlets in a residence—this is not particularly labor-intensive or confusing. However, for large, complex, and/or high voltage systems—such as sports lighting systems with multiple circuits dozens of feet apart in locked enclosures—trying to perform the same task of pushing a reset button and clearing a trip is much more labor-intensive, and confusing not only in locating the impacted circuit, but in determining what happens next if pushing the reset button does not resume operation. Presented herein are remote control options for GFCIs which could be used in addition to, and not instead of, conventional GFCI-type functionality—or could provide remote-only reset function where a system has no onsite reset button.
SURGE PROTECTION DEVICE INTEGRATING A CURRENT MEASUREMENT SENSOR
The invention relates to a surge protection device intended to be installed on an electrical installation, in parallel with one or more items of equipment to be protected, said electrical installation comprising at least one first phase line (L1), a neutral line (N) and an earth line (T), the protection device comprising a casing; and a current measurement toroid, which is housed in the casing and which comprises a central opening, through which a detection portion passes that is disposed in a surge current diversion path.
Circuit interrupting device for providing ground fault and open neutral protection in temporary power applications
A temporary power delivery system includes a power source, a booth stringer, and a portable GFCI device. The GFCI device is receives current from the power source by a first terminal and delivers current to the booth stringer by a second terminal. An electronic processor of the GFCI device compares a combined magnitude of current flowing through first and second phase conductors of the GFCI device to a magnitude of current flowing through a neutral conductor of the GFCI. The electronic processor also compares a first voltage between the first phase conductor and neutral conductor to a second voltage between the second phase conductor and neutral conductor. A circuit breaker of the GFCI device is opened if a difference between the combined magnitude of phase conductor current and neutral conductor current exceeds a first threshold or a difference between the first voltage and second voltage exceeds a second threshold.
