The invention relates to a method for ascertaining an earth fault and the earth-fault direction in a three-phase network which is operated in a compensated manner or in an insulated manner. Value pairs of a zero voltage and a zero current are measured, the active or reactive energy is calculated, and a voltage flag and a current flag are combined by a Boolean link, wherein the presence of a earth fault is ascertained depending on the result, and a decision is made as to whether the earth-fault direction is signalled as “forward” or “reverse” at least on the basis of the sign of the active or reactive energy.
Method, electrical circuit arrangements and insulation monitoring devices for an interference-resistant insulation monitoring of an ungrounded power supply system having a converter
The invention relates to a method, electrical circuit arrangements and insulation monitoring devices for an interference-resistant insulation monitoring of an ungrounded power supply system having a converter. Switching-frequent interfering signals, which are caused by operating the converter, are identified and assessed in a measured displacement voltage independently of the detection of a measuring signal in order to derive a switching (off) signal if required. Complementary thereto, an interfering resistance with respect to low-frequency interfering portions generated by the converter is attained by these low-frequency interfering portions being generated from a replica of a pulse width modulation signal of the converter and being suppressed sufficiently via subtraction that a monitoring without gaps (frequency) of the insulation resistance becomes possible.

Grounding Assurance and Voltage-to-Patient Detection for Patient Safety
A system for ensuring that electrically powered medical equipment is properly grounded includes a current sensor that senses current flowing within a ground connection conductor (e.g., leakage current) for the medical equipment. The sensor may operate based on induced current. Measured current is converted to a voltage value, and the voltage value is analyzed by a processor to determine whether current is present in the ground connection conductor. If no current is present, the ground connection conductor may be faulty. If current is present, the system can also identify voltage-to-patient fault conditions.
