Two-wire industrial process field device power supply circuitry
An industrial process field device includes first and second loop terminals configured to couple to a two-wire process control loop. Device circuitry is powered from the process control loop and monitors a process variable or controls a control device. A current regulator is in series with the loop terminals, and regulates a loop current. A first shunt voltage regulator regulates a voltage across the device circuitry. Supplemental circuitry is connected in series with the first shunt voltage regulator and the second loop terminal, and is powered by power from the two-wire process control loop shunted through the first shunt voltage regulator. A second shunt voltage regulator is connected in series with the first shunt voltage regulator and the second loop terminal, and in parallel with the supplemental circuitry, and regulates a voltage across the supplemental circuitry.
Systems and methods for managing energy-related stress in an electrical system
A method for reducing and/or managing energy-related stress in an electrical system includes processing electrical measurement data from or derived from energy-related signals captured by at least one intelligent electronic device (IED) in the electrical system to identify and track at least one energy-related transient in the electrical system. An impact of the at least one energy-related transient on equipment in the electrical system is quantified, and one or more transient-related alarms are generated in response to the impact of the at least one energy-related transient being near, within or above a predetermined range of the stress tolerance of the equipment. The transient-related alarms are prioritized based in part on at least one of the stress tolerance of the equipment, the stress associated with one or more transient events, and accumulated energy-related stress on the equipment. One or more actions are taken in the electrical system in response to the transient-related alarms to reduce energy-related stress on the equipment in the electrical system.
Methods and apparatus for grid connectivity control

For example, a method can include receiving status information of a microgrid configured to connect to a grid, transmitting a live status update screen of the microgrid to a user, the live status update screen comprising a grid connectivity button configured to receive a user input and based on a received user input, transmitting a control signal to a microgrid interconnect device connected between the microgrid and the grid for coordinating one of connection or disconnection microgrid connected to the grid.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a storage device, for electric grid asset detection are enclosed. An electric grid asset detection method includes: obtaining overhead imagery of a geographic region that includes electric grid wires; identifying the electric grid wires within the overhead imagery; and generating a polyline graph of the identified electric grid wires. The method includes replacing curves in polylines within the polyline graph with a series of fixed lines and endpoints; identifying, based on characteristics of the fixed lines and endpoints, a location of a utility pole that supports the electric grid wires; detecting an electric grid asset from street level imagery at the location of the utility pole; and generating a representation of the electric grid asset for use in a model of the electric grid.
ELECTRICAL POWER GRID VISUALIZATION
Methods, systems, and apparatus are disclosed for electrical power grid visualization. A computer-implemented method includes: obtaining power grid data including different temporal and spatially dependent characteristics of a power grid, the characteristics including a first characteristic, a second characteristic, and a third characteristic; and generating a graphical user interface (GUI) representing a visualization of the power grid data. The GUI includes a line-diagram representation of power lines in the power grid overlaid on a map of a geographic region in which the power grid is located, the line-diagram including a plurality of line segments, wherein attributes of each line segment represent the power grid data at a particular spatial location of the power grid. The attributes include a time-changing thickness of the line segment representing the first characteristic; a plurality of time-changing directional arrows on the line segment representing the second characteristic; and a color shading representing the third characteristic.
Systems and methods for managing electrical loads
A system for managing electrical loads includes a plurality of branch circuits, a sensor system, and control circuitry. The sensor system is configured to measure one or more electrical parameters corresponding to the plurality of branch circuits, and transmit one or more signals to the control circuitry. The control circuitry is configured to determine respective electrical load information in each branch circuit based on the sensor system, and control the electrical load in each branch circuit using controllable elements based on the respective electrical load information. The control circuitry transmits usage information, generates displays indicative of usage information, accesses stored or referencing information to forecast electrical load, and manages electrical load in response to identified events. The control circuitry can associate each branch circuit with reference load information, and disaggregate loads on each branch circuit based on the reference load information and on the electrical load in the branch circuit.

Systems and methods for automatically selecting actions to take on a utility grid to simultaneously reduce uncertainty while selecting actions that improve one or more effectiveness metrics. Grid action effects are represented as confidence intervals, the overlap of which is used as a weight when selecting actions within a constrained search space of grid actions. The response of the utility grid to the grid actions may be measured and parsed by the temporal and spatial reach of the grid action, then used to update the confidence intervals for that particular selected grid action.
Method for implementing power delivery transaction for potential electrical output of integrated renewable energy source and energy storage system facility
Methods for implementing power delivery transactions between a buyer and a seller of electrical energy supplied to an electrical grid by an integrated renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS) of a RES-ESS facility are provided. Estimated total potential output of the RES is compared to a point of grid interconnect (POGI) limit to identify potential RES overgeneration, and the buyer is charged if potential RES overgeneration is less than potential overgeneration during one or more retrospective time windows. The method provides a basis for the RES-ESS facility owner to be paid for an estimated amount of energy that did not get stored as a result of a grid operator not fully discharging an ESS prior to the start of a new day.
