An electricity generator using a six-segment rotating flux switch, a 2×2 switching sequence with four magnetic flux switch sites, and a unique magnetic circuit design, all of which together alternate the magnetic flux from a stationary permanent magnet through a stationary magnetic segment around which is wound a pickup coil thereby inducing electricity in the pickup coil. Both the vector direction and the scalar value of the magnetic flux are alternated within the stationary magnetic segment resulting in a high power output of AC electricity.

Rotary electric machine

A stator core including field slots housing field windings and armature slots housing armature windings is provided. Permanent magnets are housed in the respective armature slots. Field windings face to the permanent magnets directly or via the stator core on the outer and inner circumferential sides. A coil end of one of the armature windings straddles the predetermined one of the field slots and passes over the axial end face of each of the permanent magnets in the corresponding one of the field slots over which the coil end straddles.

An interference drum has a sidewall at least partially positioned inside the gap and comprising at least one magnetic field permeable zone and at least one magnetic field impermeable zone. The interference drum is movable relative to the at least one coil and to the at least one magnetic field source to alternatively position the at least one magnetic field permeable zone and the at least one magnetic field impermeable zone of the sidewall inside the gap. When the interference drum is moved, magnetic flux is created in the coil, and induces electrical current to flow into the coil. The coil may be connected to an external circuit, such that the electrical current may flow through the external circuit.
