Systems containing a double fed induction machine and a fly wheel, and methods of operating such systems
A system contains a double fed induction machine having a stator and a rotor, a fly wheel coupled to the rotor, and a control device for providing a rotor voltage and a rotor current to the rotor. The control device is connected to the rotor and the stator and is capable of generating the rotor voltage and rotor current in response to an electrical signal that is applied to the stator. The control device has a multilevel converter and a control unit for controlling the multilevel converter.
Ordinary and compact charger device
Disclosed is a system for dramatically increasing the capacity of onboard power source through internal electricity generation. The internal electricity generation is accomplished using a propulsion device connected to a shaft. A shaft contains wire winding on its opposite end that are embedded within a stator winding. Thus, the motion of the propulsion device create the rotation necessary to create current within the stator and enables an onboard power source to be recharged therefrom.

ELECTRIC DRIVE ASSEMBLY
An electric drive assembly for a motor vehicle comprises a high-speed electric machine with a nominal rotational speed of at least 20,000 revolutions per minute and with a high-speed rotor that can be used as a flywheel mass for storing kinetic energy; a superimposed transmission having a drive element, a regulating element and a driven element, wherein the drive element is drivable by an electric machine around a drive axis, wherein the regulating element is rotatable around a regulating axis and wherein the driven element is drivingly connected to the regulating element and the drive element; an electromagnetic regulating device having a stator and a rotor that is connected to the regulating element in a rotationally fixed way, wherein by means of magnetic forces acting in the circumferential direction between the stator and the rotor, a regulating moment can be transmitted to the rotor, wherein the magnetic forces are variably adjustable.
MAGNETOELECTRIC DEVICE CAPABLE OF STORING USABLE ELECTRICAL ENERGY
A magnetoelectric device capable of storing usable electrical energy includes an inductive servo control unit and a motor. The motor includes a rotor and three ferromagnetic-core coils disposed around the rotor. The inductive servo control unit executes individual phase control on the three-phase induction motor to magnetize the ferromagnetic-core coils with respective phases. When each of the ferromagnetic-core coils is demagnetized, it generates a current due to counter-electromotive force to charge a damping capacitor.

ELECTROSTATIC GENERATOR ELECTRODE-CENTERING AND SEISMIC-ISOLATION SYSTEM FOR FLYWHEEL-BASED ENERGY STORAGE MODULES
Robust electro-static (ES) device embodiments, with application to energy storage flywheels as an example, are described that provide reliable, high-efficiency operation in the presence of thermal and mechanical perturbations, as well as seismic events. Electro-static generators and motors, when augmented with magnetic bearings, passive three-dimensional stabilization techniques and dynamic touch-down bearings, enable robust performance in the face of these environmental concerns, as well as efficient operation during typical operational sequences, including spin-up and steady-state modalities.
Gyroscopic Boat Roll Stabilizer
A gyroscopic roll stabilizer comprises a gimbal having a support frame and enclosure configured to maintain a below-ambient pressure, a flywheel assembly including a flywheel and flywheel shaft, one or more bearings for rotatably mounting the flywheel inside the enclosure, a motor for rotating the flywheel, and bearing cooling system for cooling the bearings supporting the flywheel. For smaller units, the bearing cooling system is effective to enable a flywheel with a moment of inertia less than 40,000 lb in.sup.2 to be accelerated at a rate of 5 rpm/s or greater. For larger units, the bearing cooling system is effective to enable a flywheel with a moment of inertia greater than 40,000 lb in.sup.2 to be accelerated at a rate of 2.5 rpm/s or greater.
