A motor control device including a PWM control part is provided. The PWM control part has a two-phase complementary PWM control part, and when driving opening and closing of an opening/closing body, PWM-controls upper switching elements and lower switching elements of three phases in a three-phase inverter circuit based on an energization mode that sequentially switches among energized phases, which are two of the three phases, and a non-energized phase, which is a remaining one phase. The two-phase complementary PWM control part, in one of the energized phases, controls one of the upper switching element and the lower switching element by a PWM signal, and controls the other by a complementary PWM signal having a polarity opposite to the PWM signal, and, in the non-energized phase, controls one of the upper switching element and the lower switching element to be off, and controls the other by the complementary PWM signal.

A motor control device controls a driving of a motor having a motor winding. The motor control device includes a motor control unit and a parameter setting unit. The motor control unit controls the driving of the motor. The parameter setting unit sets a control parameter related to a driving control of the motor such that at least one of a motor torque and a motor speed is variable according to a system temperature.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING A MOTOR

A system for controlling a motor includes a controller module comprising a controller portion, a regulator portion and an integrator portion. The regulator portion includes a set of regulator modules communicatively coupled in a sequence. Each regulator module configured to receive a respective input signal, indicative of a target or selected value, from the controller portion or the immediately preceding regulator module in the sequence, determine a respective selectable value; select one of the respective selectable value and the value indicated by the received input signal; and provide the selected value as an output signal to the next regulator module in the sequence or the integrator module. The integrator module is configured to receive the output signal from the last regulator module in the sequence, calculate a final demand value based on the received signal, and provide an output signal indicative of the final demand value.

PULSE MODULATED CONTROL WITH FIELD WEAKENING FOR IMPROVED MACHINE EFFICIENCY

Modulated pulse control of electric machines to deliver a desired output in a more energy efficient manner by either (a) operating the electric machine in a continuous mode when a requested torque demand is greater than the peak efficiency torque of the electric machine or (b) in a pulsed modulation mode when the requested torque demand is less than the peak efficiency torque of the electric machine. When operating in the pulsed modulation mode, the inverter may be deactivated to further improve the system efficiency when field weakening is not required to mitigate or eliminate generation of a retarding torque in situations when Back Electromagnetic Force (BEMF) exceeds a supply voltage for the inverter of the machine.

Power tools with user-selectable operational modes

A hand-held power tool is provided that includes a housing assembly, an output spindle, and a motor endbell. The housing assembly supports an electric motor having a rotor configured to rotate when the electric motor is supplied with power. The output spindle protrudes from an output end of the housing assembly, and is functionally coupled to the rotor such that the output spindle rotates in response to a rotation of the rotor. The motor endbell is located on the housing assembly adjacent the electric motor and opposite the output spindle. An illustrative controller is operable to determine phases of a fastening operation in which the hand-held power tool is operating. The phases of the fastening operation of the hand-held power tool include two phases including: (1) a continuous run phase and (2) an impacting phase.
