Wideband filter for direct connection to differential power amplifier
A filter device configured to directly connect to a differential power amplifier of a transmit chain circuit. The filter device may include a transformer and a filter configured as a half lattice equivalent topology and having a single-ended output. The filter may be a lattice filter configured as a full lattice topology or a lattice equivalent filter configured as a half lattice equivalent topology. The filter includes a first branch having a first impedance network of one or more first impedance elements and a second branch having a second impedance network of one or more second impedance elements. The single-ended output of the filter device may connect to an antenna switch that is in turn connected to an antenna.
TRANSFORMER-BASED MARCHAND BALUN AMPLIFIER FOR WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
An amplifier includes a first and a second differential input ports, and a single-ended output port. The amplifier includes a first and a second transistors, each having a gate, source, and drain terminals. The source terminals are coupled to a reference plane and the gate terminals are coupled to the respective first and second differential input ports. The amplifier includes a Balun having a primary and a secondary transformer winding, the primary transformer winding having one end coupled to the drain terminal of the first transistor, an opposite end coupled to the drain terminal of the second transistor, and a center tap coupled to a bias voltage, and the secondary transformer winding is adjacent to the primary transformer winding and having one end coupled to the single-ended output port and an opposite end open circuited. An electromagnetic field generated at the primary induces a signal at the secondary transformer winding.
LOAD-MODULATED PUSH-PULL POWER AMPLIFIER
Aspects of the disclosure include a power amplifier comprising an input to receive an input signal, an output to provide an amplified output signal, a balun coupled between the input and the output, at least one capacitor coupled to the balun, and a controllable load coupled to the at least one capacitor.
BALUN
A balun includes: first wiring that has a first end connected to a first balanced line and a second end connected to a second balanced line; second wiring that has a grounded first end and a second end; third wiring that has a first end connected to the second end of the second wiring and a second end connected to an unbalanced line and is electromagnetically coupled to the second wiring; a first capacitor that has a first end connected to the first end of the third wiring and a grounded second end; and a second capacitor that has a first end connected to the second end of the third wiring and a grounded second end. The first wiring is electromagnetically coupled to at least one of the second wiring and the third wiring.
Balun device and differential phase shifter
Balun device and differential phase shifter are provided. The balun device includes a first primary coil, a first secondary coil, a second primary coil and a second secondary coil, the first primary coil having a first terminal receiving a first differential signal, and a second terminal outputting a first in-phase component, the first secondary coil having a first terminal outputting a first component orthogonal to the first in-phase component, and a second terminal coupled to AC ground, the second primary coil having a first terminal receiving a second differential signal, and a second terminal outputting a second in-phase component; the second secondary coil having a first terminal outputting a second component orthogonal to the second in-phase component, and a second terminal coupled to AC ground; phase differences between the first and second differential signals, between the first and second in-phase components, between the first and second orthogonal component are 180°.
Amplifier, amplification circuit and phase shifter
Amplifiers, amplification circuits, and phase shifters, for example, for flexibly adjusting an output phase to thereby meet a requirement of a constant phase on a link in a communications field, are provided. In one aspect, an amplifier includes first, second, and third MOS transistors. The first MOS transistor includes a gate separately coupled to a signal input end and a bias voltage input end, a source coupled to a power supply, and a drain separately coupled to sources of the second and third MOS transistors. A drain of the third MOS transistor is coupled to a ground, and a drain of the second MOS transistor is coupled to a signal output end. The bias voltage input end is configured to receive a bias voltage to adjust a phase difference between an input signal at the signal input end and an output signal at the signal output end.
Active balun circuit, power amplifier circuit, and power amplifier module
An active balun circuit includes first and second transistors having emitters electrically coupled to each other and configured to output differential signals and a circuit element coupled between the connection point of the emitter of the first transistor and the emitter of the second transistor and a reference potential. The impedance of the circuit element at a particular frequency of the input signal appears significantly larger than impedances at other frequencies. An input signal from an input terminal is inputted to the base of the first transistor. The reference potential is applied to the base of the second transistor. A supply voltage is applied to the collector of the first transistor and the collector of the second transistor. A signal from the collector of the first transistor and a signal from the collector of the second transistor are outputted as the differential signals.

Examples of the disclosure include a wireless device comprising a power amplifier configured to output a balanced amplified signal, an antenna configured to transmit and receive signals, a balun coupled to the power amplifier and the antenna, and being configured to receive the balanced amplified signal and output, based on the balanced amplified signal, an unbalanced amplified signal to the antenna, and at least one capacitor coupled in series between the power amplifier and the balun.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING AMPLIFIER BIAS CURRENT BASED ON INPUT SIGNAL ENVELOPE TRACKING
A system and method which includes receiving an input signal having an envelope and generating an envelope detection signal corresponding to the envelope. A bias current provided to an amplifier circuit is adjusted based upon the envelope detection signal, the amplifier circuit including an amplifier and a transformer. The transformer is configured to establish a magnetically coupled feedback loop from an output of the amplifier to an input of the amplifier. An output signal is provided, by the amplifier circuit, in response to the input signal.
LOAD MODULATED POWER AMPLIFIERS
Apparatus and methods for load modulated power amplifiers are provided. In certain embodiments, a load modulated power amplifier system includes a power amplifier that receives a radio frequency signal at an input and provides an amplified radio frequency signal at an output, and a controllable load impedance coupled to the output of the power amplifier. The controllable load impedance receives an envelope signal that changes in relation to an envelope of the radio frequency signal, and the envelope signal is operable to control an impedance of the controllable load impedance to modulate a load at the output of the power amplifier.
