METHOD, A TRANSMITTER AND A SYSTEM FOR CONTINUOUSLY OPTIMIZING DATA COMPRESSION USING FREQUENCY-BASED DICTIONARY LOOKUP TABLES IN A VEHICLE
Data compression is continuously optimized using frequency-based dictionary lookup tables for communication between a transmitter in a vehicle and a receiver. In a transmitter, first and second frequency-based dictionary lookup tables are provided. The transmitter receives a data block and compresses it using the first table. Using the data block, the second table is updated and a difference between a compression efficiency of the first table and a compression efficiency of the second table for the data block is calculated. The compressed data block is transmitted to the receiver. When the difference is more than a pre-defined threshold, the content of the first table is replaced with the content of the updated second table in the transmitter. The content of the updated second table is then also transmitted to the receiver.
Technologies for assigning workloads to balance multiple resource allocation objectives
Technologies for allocating resources of managed nodes to workloads to balance multiple resource allocation objectives include an orchestrator server to receive resource allocation objective data indicative of multiple resource allocation objectives to be satisfied. The orchestrator server is additionally to determine an initial assignment of a set of workloads among the managed nodes and receive telemetry data from the managed nodes. The orchestrator server is further to determine, as a function of the telemetry data and the resource allocation objective data, an adjustment to the assignment of the workloads to increase an achievement of at least one of the resource allocation objectives without decreasing an achievement of another of the resource allocation objectives, and apply the adjustments to the assignments of the workloads among the managed nodes as the workloads are performed. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Techniques for dynamically compressing memory regions having a uniform value
Accesses between a processor and its external memory is reduced when the processor internally maintains a compressed version of values stored in the external memory. The processor can then refer to the compressed version rather than access the external memory. One compression technique involves maintaining a dictionary on the processor mapping portions of a memory to values. When all of the values of a portion of memory are uniform (e.g., the same), the value is stored in the dictionary for that portion of memory. Thereafter, when the processor needs to access that portion of memory, the value is retrieved from the dictionary rather than from external memory. Techniques are disclosed herein to extend, for example, the capabilities of such dictionary-based compression so that the amount of accesses between the processor and its external memory are further reduced.
Technologies for switching network traffic in a data center
Technologies for switching network traffic include a network switch. The network switch includes one or more processors and communication circuitry coupled to the one or more processors. The communication circuitry is capable of switching network traffic of multiple link layer protocols. Additionally, the network switch includes one or more memory devices storing instructions that, when executed, cause the network switch to receive, with the communication circuitry through an optical connection, network traffic to be forwarded, and determine a link layer protocol of the received network traffic. The instructions additionally cause the network switch to forward the network traffic as a function of the determined link layer protocol. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Computer data compression utilizing multiple symbol alphabets and dynamic binding of symbol alphabets
The generation of symbol-encoded data from digital data, as part of the compression of the digital data into a compressed digital data, can be performed with reference to multiple alternative alphabets. A selection of a specific alphabet is made based on the digital data being compressed, the compression parameters, or combinations thereof. Information indicative of the selected alphabet is encoded into one or more headers of the resulting compressed digital data. A single alphabet can be selected for all of a set of digital data being compressed, or multiple different alphabets can be selected, with different ones of the multiple different alphabets being utilized to compress different portions of the digital data. Additionally, rather than explicitly specifying a specific selected alphabet, the header information can comprise information from which a same alphabet can be independently selected heuristically by both the compressor and the corresponding decompressor.

Dictionary generation for downhole signal compression
An apparatus includes a processor and a machine-readable medium having program code to cause the apparatus to obtain a first dictionary based on a first training set of signals and determine a first subset of the first training set of signals based on a training reconstruction accuracy threshold and the first dictionary, wherein each atom in the first dictionary includes at least one of a signal pattern and a function representing the signal pattern. The program code also includes code to generate a second dictionary based on a second training set of signals, wherein the second training set of signals includes the first subset of the first training set of signals.
Select decompression headers and symbol start indicators used in writing decompressed data
One or more units of decompressed data of a plurality of units of decompressed data is written to a target location for subsequent writing to memory. The plurality of units of decompressed data includes a plurality of symbol outputs and has associated therewith a plurality of decompression headers. A determination is made that the subsequent writing to memory of at least a portion of another unit of decompressed data to be written to the target location is to be stalled. A symbol start position of the other unit of decompressed data and a decompression header of a selected unit of the one or more units of decompressed data written to the target location are provided to a component of the computing environment. The decompression header is used for the subsequent writing of the other unit of decompressed data to memory.
