Integrated downhole system with plural telemetry subsystems
A downhole system has a plurality of telemetry systems and a control system configured to obtain information from one or more sensors and transmit that information on one or more of the plurality of telemetry systems. The configuration of a controller may be changed so as to change which information is transmitted on a given telemetry system and how the information is to be transmitted on the given telemetry system.
Data communications system
A data communications system and associated method of data transmission for transmitting data over a three phase power system between a surface and a sub-surface location for an arrangement such as an oil field electrical submersible pump, on each of the three conductors of a three phase cabled connection with an isolation mechanism operable to isolate any given conductor when a fault associated with that conductor is detected. With the system providing a separate AC signal and data transfer on each conductor isolation can be achieved while enabling continued operation.
Electrical power and/or electrical signal transmission
An electrical power and/or electrical signal transmission system for transmitting electrical power and/or electrical signals from a location on a first side of a metallic wall to a location on a second side of the metallic wall includes a transmitting apparatus having an electrical source and a first transformer. A receiving apparatus has a receiving module for receiving electrical power and/or electrical signals and a second transformer. First and second ends of a primary winding of the second transformer are electrically connected to respective spaced locations on the second, opposite, side of the metallic wall for picking up electrical power and/or electrical signals from the metallic wall. The receiving module is electrically connected to a secondary winding of the second transformer to enable electrical power and/or electrical signals to be transmitted from the electrical source to the receiving module.
REDUCING COMMON MODE NOISE WITH RESPECT TO TELEMETRY EQUIPMENT USED FOR MONITORING DOWNHOLE PARAMETERS
A system and methodology are provided for improving telemetry over a three-phase electrical power cable of the type used to provide power to electric submersible pumping systems or other powered devices. Data communication is provided between one end of a three-phase electrical power cable coupled with an electric power source and the other end of the three-phase electrical power cable coupled to a powered device, such as an electrical motor. The system and methodology enable a reduction in the level of common mode noise generated by, for example, a variable speed drive and/or enable minimizing or eliminating the common mode noise before mixing with data communication signals.
VOLTAGE LINE COMMUNICATIONS DURING PULSE POWER DRILLING
A method of communication along a shared voltage line is disclosed. In pulse power drilling, a generator charges applies voltage to a shared voltage line, which capacitively charges electrodes for formation drilling. While the generator controls the charging rate, charge voltage, and post-delay time between the charging cycles, a pulse power controller determines the pre-delay time by firing electrodes to discharge the stored voltage. Communication from the pulse power controller to the generator is encoded in the pre-delay time, where pre-delay times longer than a minimum pre-delay time correspond to time bins with pre-determined communications between the pulse power controller and the generator. The generator can also communicate to the pulse power controller via manipulation of the post-delay time.

WELLBORE COMMUNICATION METHODS AND SYSTEMS
A method and system of opportunistic communication in a well structure are provided. The method includes identifying at a first location an existing signal propagating in a section of the well structure between the first location and a second location; modifying that existing signal so as to encode information at the first location for opportunistic communication of that information to the second location; and receiving the modified signal at the second location and decoding the signal so as to retrieve the information.
Powerline interface communication
A subsea system, a communication system for determining operation of at least one subsea actuator member, and apparatus for controlling one or more valves are disclosed. The subsea system comprises at least one auxiliary equipment and/or valve actuator module; and at least one modem unit that receives power signals; wherein the auxiliary equipment is responsive to an output provided by the modem unit.
