BEAMFORMING CODEBOOK ADAPTATION FOR FLEXIBLE WIRELESS DEVICES

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A codebook adaptation may be performed for a flexible user equipment (UEs) to determine a codebook for a physical configuration of the UE. For example, if the UE determines that the physical configuration does not correspond to a pre-loaded codebook in its memory, the UE may provide information about the physical configuration to a base station to determine a corresponding codebook. Additionally, the UE may request that the base station provide channel information to assist with the codebook determination. In some cases, this request may indicate for the base station to allocate a specific number of channel state information reference signal symbols that the UE can use for the codebook determination. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may generate the codebook internally and then signal to the base station a request for a beam refinement procedure with the generated codebook.

Transmission method, transmission apparatus, reception method and reception apparatus

All data symbols used in data transmission of a modulated signal are precoded by hopping between precoding matrices so that the precoding matrix used to precode each data symbol and the precoding matrices used to precode data symbols that are adjacent to the data symbol in the frequency domain and the time domain all differ. A modulated signal with such data symbols arranged therein is transmitted.

A communications system for hybrid beamforming is provided. The communications system includes a base station encoding data into a plurality of streams, each transmitted through a radio frequency chain. The communication system further includes a beamforming codebook including a set of beamforming codewords. The communications system also includes a beamformer transmitting a given one of the plurality of streams through multiple antennas by adjusting a phase and a gain of symbols of the given one of the plurality of streams for each of the multiple antennas by using a corresponding beamforming coefficient of a given beamforming codeword chosen from the beamforming codebook. A beam and its corresponding beamforming codeword is designed such that the mean squared error between the beam pattern generated with the given beamforming codeword and a given beam pattern is minimized.

Frequency-selective single frequency network based on the modified type-II port selection codebook

Frequency-selective single frequency network (SFN) operation is disclosed based on a modified Type-II port selection codebook. Within the channel state information (CSI) feedback procedure, a user equipment (UE) observing the CSI-reference signal (CSI-RS) resource configured by the serving base station with two ports configured over multiple sectors of the serving base station may select a precoder from the Type-II port selection codebook which accommodates additional subband amplitude information. The additional subband amplitude information may include a subband dynamic SFN activation indicator. In such a CSI report selected from the Type-II port selection codebook, the UE may indicate to the serving base station both a wideband SFN activation/deactivation and a subband SFN activation/deactivation in addition to the subband phase information. The serving base station may then use this CSI report to activate/deactivate SFN operations in both wideband and subband over each of the participating sectors.

Method and arrangement in a wireless communications system

A method for assisting the adaptation of a signal from a first node to a second node is provided. The first node communicates with the second node in a wireless communication system over a radio link. The second node has a codebook comprising a set of possible information alternatives for assisting the adaptation of a signal received from the first node. The second node may select an information alternative from the codebook and send it to the first node to assist the first node in adapting the signal. The first node is configured with a number of subsets, each comprising a part of the possible information alternatives. The first node requests that the second node restrict the selection of information alternatives to one of the subsets, and in response, receives an information alternative from the second node that is selected from among the subsets configured according to the configuration request.

A channel state information feedback method includes: a terminal receives first indication information from a network device, and the terminal sends channel state information to the network device. The first indication information is used to indicate a type of a right multiplication matrix in a first codebook, and the first codebook satisfies a formula (I). W is the first codebook, W.sub.1 is a port selection matrix, (II) is a linear superposition coefficient matrix, W.sub.f is the right multiplication matrix, and (III) is a conjugate transpose of W.sub.f, and is used by the terminal to determine the channel state information based on the first codebook. According to the method, when there are a plurality of codebooks, the codebook used by the terminal to obtain the CSI can be clearly indicated.

Antenna array codebook with beamforming coefficients adapted to an arbitrary antenna response of the antenna array

A receiver includes an antenna for a wireless communication with a transmitter and a signal processor to process a radio signal received via a radio channel. The receiver constructs a codebook including sets of beamforming weights for a plurality of directions. The beamforming weights are based on a first antenna array response matrix of a transmitter antenna array. The transmitter selects beamforming weights from the codebook to form a transmit/receive beam pointing in a selected direction. The receiver calculates one or more characteristic matrices based on a model of the transmitter antenna array, and constructs the codebook using a second antenna array response matrix and the one or more calculated characteristic matrices.
