In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a satellite communication system includes a satellite constellation including a plurality of satellites in non-geosynchronous orbit (non-GEO), wherein at least some of the plurality of satellites travel in a first orbital path at a first inclination, and an end point terminal having an earth-based geographic location, the end point terminal having an antenna system defining a field of regard for communicating with the satellite constellation, wherein the field of regard is a limited field of regard, wherein the field of regard is tilted from a non-tilted position to a tilted position, and wherein the tilt angle of the tilted position is a function of the latitude of the geographic location.
TETHERING TO A SATELLITE TERMINAL
A system includes a satellite communications terminal including a computer programmed to provide communications for user devices with a destination network. The computer detects a physical state or change in a physical state specified as a trigger to transfer the communications for the user devices with the destination network from a satellite communications channel to a cellular communications channel. Upon detecting the trigger event, the computer establishes a communications link with a cellular device and provides communications for the user devices with the destination network via the cellular device and the cellular communications channel.
Dynamically adjusting the transmission mode in a satellite communication system
A system and method for transmitting a data stream between a server and a user terminal, comprises at least one satellite gateway associated with a satellite router communicating with at least one satellite terminal associated with a terminal router, wherein the terminal router is configured, when it receives a stream request from a user terminal, to search for it in its memory resources and, if appropriate, transmit it to the user terminal, the satellite router is configured to transmit the request to the server, estimate a popularity of the stream and transmit a message of correspondence between the stream and broadcasting parameters then convert the stream into a point-to-multipoint stream adapted to the broadcasting parameters, the terminal router is configured to convert point-to-multipoint streams into point-to-point streams and transmit them to the user terminals.
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, COMMUNICATION APPARATUS, WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD AND COMMUNICATION PROGRAM
In a wireless communication system in which a relay apparatus provided in a mobile object wirelessly communicates with a plurality of communication apparatuses placed at different locations, the relay apparatus includes a receiver that receives a signal transmitted from each of the plurality of communication apparatus, the signal including position information indicating a position of each communication apparatus, a measurement unit that measures a congestion level of communication, a control unit that divides a communication target area into a plurality of small areas in accordance with the positions of the plurality of communication apparatuses and the congestion level of communication and generates area information indicating a position of each of the small areas, and a transmitter that sequentially transmits a plurality of pieces of the area information when the relay apparatus is positioned in a range in which the relay apparatus can communicate with the communication apparatuses, and each communication apparatus includes a storage unit that stores transmission data, a receiver that receives the area information, a control unit that determines whether a position of the communication apparatus is included in the small area in accordance with the area information, and a transmitter that transmits a signal including the transmission data and position information indicating a position of the communication apparatus to the relay apparatus when the position of the communication apparatus is included in the small area.
TILTED EARTH-BASED ANTENNA SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF TILTING FOR COMMUNICATION WITH A SATELLITE SYSTEM

Terrestrial and satellite radio frequency transmission system and method
A communication device comprising: a first unit having a first antenna, a second antenna, and a first signal transmitting and receiving circuitry; a second unit having a third antenna and a fourth antenna and wherein the second unit is located in proximity to the first unit; wherein the second unit is capable of receiving a first radio frequency (RF) signal at a first frequency, amplifying the first RF signal in a second unit low noise amplifier (LNA), and autonomously transmitting the first RF signal through a barrier to the first unit; and wherein the first unit is capable of transmitting signals at the first frequency to a wireless device. The communication device is capable of operating in a first mode by communicating with a terrestrial base station and in a second mode with a satellite.
Satellite blockage tolerant communication
Effects of communications blockages can be mitigated. A wireless communication transmitter comprises a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to, upon receiving a current data packet in a sequence of data packets, wirelessly transmit a burst to a second computer. The burst includes the current data packet and a previous data packet in the sequence.
Mobile interactive satellite services
A mobile interactive satellite service includes a first satellite, a base station, and a ground station configured to provide respective and distinct first and second multicast content components to the first satellite and the base station. The first satellite communicates the first multicast content component in a first signal to a mobile device. The base station communicates the second multicast content component in a second signal to the mobile device, which can combine the received signals. For another embodiment, a mobile interactive service includes a mobile device, a first base station, a second base station, and a ground station configured to provide a first multicast content component to the first base station and a second multicast content component to the second base station. The first and second multicast content components are distinct, transmitted in respective first and second multicast signals and are combined by the mobile device.
