20230045792 · 2023-02-16 ·

Various arrangements of transmit and receive shared-aperture array antenna systems are presented herein. The arrangements can include an antenna that includes: a planar substrate; a first row of a first plurality of transmit patches arranged on the planar substrate; a second row of a plurality of receive patches arranged on the planar substrate; and a third row of a second plurality of transmit patches arranged on the planar substrate. The first row, second row, and third row can be parallel and the second row can be between the first row and the third row.

Selecting a non-access stratum period based on a non-terrestrial access network type

A wireless device receives access network information indicating an access network type. Based on the access network type, a non-access stratum (NAS) period is selected among: a first value associated with a geostationary earth orbit (GEO) non-terrestrial network (NTN) access network type; and a second value associated with a low earth orbit (LEO) NTN access network type. A NAS procedure is initiated by sending a NAS request message. A start of the NAS period is based on the sending. The NAS procedure is aborted based on an expiry of the NAS period.

SATELLITE SYSTEM HAVING TERMINALS IN HOPPING BEAMS COMMUNICATING WITH MORE THAN ONE GATEWAY

A satellite communication system includes a satellite configured to provide a first plurality of spot beams adapted for communication with subscriber terminals using time domain beam hopping and a second plurality of spot beams adapted for communication with gateways. The satellite includes a spectrum routing network that is configured to time multiplex spot beams of the second plurality of spot beams with spot beams of the first plurality of spot beams so that a spot beam that is implementing beam hopping for communication to subscriber terminals communicates with different feeder beams (and, therefore, different gateways) at different times during a hopping period.

SATELLITE SYSTEM WITH BEAM HOPPING PLAN THAT TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE NEEDS OF GATEWAYS AND SUBSCRIBER TERMINALS

A satellite communication system comprises a satellite configured to provide a plurality of spot beams adapted for communication using time domain beam hopping to switch throughput among spot beams of the plurality of spot beams. The plurality of spot beams includes a first spot beam that illuminates and communicates with a first gateway and a first set of subscriber terminals. The satellite is configured to implement a beam hopping plan that during a hopping period provides throughput to the first spot beam for an aggregated time duration based on bandwidth assignments to the first gateway and the first set of subscriber terminals.

Orbital Base Station Filtering of Interference from Terrestrial-Terrestrial Communications of Devices That Use Protocols in Common with Orbital-Terrestrial Communications

An orbiting multiple access transceiver communicates with terrestrial mobile stations which are also capable of communicating with terrestrial base stations. The multiple access transceiver is configured to sample a signal when a terrestrial mobile station of interest is not transmitting to produce a sample signal. The sample signal may be processed to produce an out-of-phase signal that may be applied to a signal when the terrestrial mobile station of interest is transmitting to produce a clearer signal from the terrestrial mobile station of interest.

System and method for integrated optimization of design and performance of satellite constellations

The embodiments herein provide a system and method for integrated optimization of design and performance of satellite constellations. The present disclosure provides a method for optimization of design and performance of satellite constellation to provide internet connectivity at preset geographic regions. In current methods, the optimizations of subsystems are performed independently and the results are combined, resulting in a loss of overall optimality. The present disclosure defines the relationships between subsystems such that integrity of complete design is tested with fewer complexities and provides an integrated optimization framework, in which every subsystem is optimized individually and collectively. The present disclosure provides a method for optimization of power subsystem of satellites by determining the pattern of payload operation and need for peak power. The present disclosure also provides a method to minimize the number of satellites required in constellations by carefully regulating spot beams formed by individual satellites in constellations.
