MULTIMEDIA SERVERS THAT BROADCAST PACKET-SWITCHED AUDIO WITH SECOND SCREEN CONTENT
An apparatus, system, or method may wirelessly send an audio component of a multimedia channel to one or more wireless computing devices while a visual component of the multimedia channel is playing on a video monitor. The extracted audio component of the multimedia content may be packetized into data packets and broadcast via a network such that the data packets can be received by the wireless computing devices and the audio component can be played by the wireless computing devices in synchronization with the visual component playing on the video monitor. A channel listing may inform the wireless computing devices what channels are available. A visual content that is not the visual component of the multimedia channel may be displayed on the wireless computing device while an audio component of the multimedia channel is streamed to the wireless computing device. A direction indicator may be displayed on the wireless computing device to indicate the direction of a video monitor playing the visual component. A user of the wireless computing device may request that the visual component playing on a video monitor be set to a user-selected component.

Proximity based content sharing
A sharing user of a content management system can request to share a content item in his namespace. When such a request is made, the sharing user's client device broadcasts a notification that can be received by devices that are within a limited broadcast range of the sharing client device. A receiving user's client device that is within the limited broadcast range of the sharing client device receives the broadcasted notification. Based on the notification, the receiving client device obtains a token from the sharing client device that identifies the content item being shared by the sharing user. At the request of the receiving user, the receiving client device transmits the token to the content management system and requests that the content management system add the shared content item to the receiving user's namespace with the system. The receiving user can then access the item from his namespace.

Audio converter device and method for using the same
An audio converter device and a method for using the same. The audio converter device receives the digital audio data from a first device via a local area network. The audio converter device decompresses the digital audio data and converts the digital audio data into analog electrical data. The audio converter device transfers the analog electrical data to an audio playback device.

Systems and methods to discover and notify devices that come in close proximity with each other
An electronic device of a first user is configured to: connect with a second electronic device of a second user of the plurality of electronic devices over a first peer-to-peer wireless network link when the second electronic device is within a communicable range of the first electronic device; receive from the second electronic device, a second unique code generated by the second electronic device, the second unique code including a second unique identifier of the second electronic device; store on the first electronic device: the second unique identifier; information associated with the proximity of the second electronic device; and information associated with the time when the second electronic device is within the communicable range of the first electronic device; and display a notification on the first electronic device when the second unique identifier is downloaded from a web server to the first electronic device.
Networking systems, protocols, and methods for controlling target devices
Systems and methods are provided for controlling electric and electronic devices. The devices may communicate with each other in a many-to-many, peer-to-peer network to provide control functionality without the need for a central controller. Device-to-device control messages may be implemented over short range, wireless broadcast messages.
