A system and method for conducting a refractive examination of an eye of a patient, has a communication device with a communication module that connects to the internet, a processor that is programmed to connect to a remote computer via the communication module and which has a display screen, a microphone and a speaker. The remote computer has a data storage device that stores images of eye charts. The communication device is mounted in a virtual reality headset configured to be worn by the patient and has at least one screen through which the display screen of the communication device is viewable. The communication device displays images in the form of the eye charts to the patient, who communicates through the communication to a remote examiner who conducts the refractive examination using multiple different eye charts to determine the prescription of the patient.

The present invention provides to a web-based software and hardware system that act together with a user device to capture an audio feed, to easily encode and add meta data to the audio content using input from studio systems, parse the content based on its type, and to provide the means to incorporate a feed segment produced from the encoded audio feed into a secondary production which is used to provide an indexed archive of audio and on-demand broadcast content, for example, by the creation and publication of pod-casts or on-demand broadcast, which includes ad positions inserted and dynamically served.

Disclosed is an interactive device for an internet radio station, comprising a content presentation unit and a content selection unit. The content selection unit includes a knob, a selection module, a processing module, an indication module and a communication module. The knob inputs by a user, a channel selection instruction by means of manual rotation; the selection module generates a corresponding electrical signal according to the channel selection instruction; the processing module obtains, according to the electrical signal, a corresponding audio resource from the network radio station and releases the audio resource to the content presentation unit which plays the audio resource. The indication module generates, under the driving of the knob, a state change corresponding to the channel selection instruction. In this way, the user can select the audio resource by rotating the knob, so that the channel selection manner is similar to the traditional radio rotary tuning method.

Disclosed is an interactive device for an internet radio station, comprising a content presentation unit and a content selection unit. The content selection unit includes a knob, a selection module, a processing module, an indication module and a communication module. The knob inputs by a user, a channel selection instruction by means of manual rotation; the selection module generates a corresponding electrical signal according to the channel selection instruction; the processing module obtains, according to the electrical signal, a corresponding audio resource from the network radio station and releases the audio resource to the content presentation unit which plays the audio resource. A system and method for streaming customized audio is disclosed. The system and method allow for the selection of advertisements based on at least one feature of a listener and insertion of the selected advertisements into a customized digital audio stream subsequently transmitted to a particular listener. In a particular embodiment, the advertisement is provided as a text string which is converted into audio for insertion into customized digital audio stream.

A system and method for streaming customized audio is disclosed. The system and method allow for the selection of advertisements based on at least one feature of a listener and insertion of the selected advertisements into a customized digital audio stream subsequently transmitted to a particular listener. In a particular embodiment, the advertisement is provided as a text string which is converted into audio for insertion into customized digital audio stream.

Methods, apparatus and articles of manufacture to identify sources of network streaming services are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a coding format identifier to identify, from a received first audio signal representing a decompressed second audio signal, an audio compression configuration used to compress a third audio signal to form the second audio signal, and a source identifier to identify a source of the second audio signal based on the identified audio compression configuration.

Data streams are generally selected according to user preferences and transmitted to the user in general alignment with expressed preferences of the user. Such data streams may be music, including music videos. Users may indicate their general or specific preferences with regards to song, artists, or albums. Any other aspects or factors that might affect the user's preferences can be taken into account. A playlist is created that combines all of these factors. The playlist then serves as the basis for feeding the data streams to the user. Each user is able to express his or her own preferences and receive music corresponding to those preferences on an on-going basis.

The apparatus has a receiver for receiving information from preselected addresses; a processor for interpreting the signals; and at least one speaker for playing signals from the internet. There is at least display device connected to the receiver for displaying an image received from the internet. The processor selects images that correspond with the signals played by the speaker.
