Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for identifying electronic devices in a room using a spread code. In some embodiments, a first electronic device receives a spread spectrum signal from a second electronic device over an audio data channel. The first electronic device determines a time of receipt of the spread spectrum signal based on despreading. The first electronic device calculates a distance between the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the time of receipt and a time of transmission. The first electronic device determines the second electronic device is not in the room with the first electronic device based on the calculated distance.

The first carrier is a carrier having a synchronisation signal and a physical broadcast channel, and the second carrier can be a carrier without any synchronisation signals or physical broadcast channels. The first carrier can be operated on a single resource block in a guard frequency that is used in the wireless communication system.

A second set of data symbols transmitted on at least one of said one or more frequencies from the first sub-set is received. It is determined from the second set of data symbols whether a network quality metric exceeds a threshold. The synthesiser is calibrated for one or more frequencies in a second frequency sub-set when the network quality metric exceeds the threshold. The second sub-set comprises frequencies that are not in the first sub-set.

If the second cell identifier is different from the first cell identifier, the carrier information further includes antenna port number information, and the user equipment assumes that the number of the antenna ports for the CRS is the same as the number of antenna ports based on the antenna port number information.

The first electronic device determines a direction of the second electronic device based on the spread spectrum signal and beam forming techniques. The first electronic device adjusts playback of audiovisual content at the second electronic device and a third electronic device for a location based on the airtime delay and the direction.
