Optimizations for PE-CE protocol session handling in a multi-homed topology
11665091 · 2023-05-30 · ·

Apparatuses and methods are provided in which a CE protocol communication session is established, at a first provider edge network device (PE), for customer equipment device (CE) multi-homed to the first PE and one or more second PEs. The first PE is an owner of the CE protocol communication session. The first PE signals to the one or more second PEs an ownership message indicating that the first PE is the owner of the CE protocol communication session. The ownership message includes parameters that enable one or more second PEs to install in their respective forwarding tables a redirect policy to instruct the respective PE to forward packets of this session to the first PE via an overlay segment. The first PE receives the packets of the session via the overlay segment based on the ownership message.

According to one aspect of the disclosure, a method includes: determining a plurality of network addresses assigned to an application, the application being deployed within a container on a host; determining a plurality of network addresses assigned to the container; and configuring networking of the host and of the container to establish routes between at least a first one of the plurality of network addresses assigned to the application and at least a first one of the plurality of network addresses assigned to the container.

A method and system is disclosed for traffic management in data networks. A first operation comprises allocating a first IP address to a first interface of a client device for data communications using a first sub-flow over a first path. Another operation comprises allocating a second IP address to a second interface of the client device for data communications using a second sub-flow over a second, different path, the second IP address being associated with the first IP address. Another operation comprises sending information relating to the allocated first and second IP addresses for the client device to an aggregating device for aggregating the first and second sub-flows, when received from the client device, for providing aggregated data to a destination device.
