Geolocation using reverse domain name server information
Generating an improved/more accurate geolocation database is provided. Given a dataset of reverse DNS hostnames for IP addresses, ground truth information, and a hierarchical geographical database, a machine learning classifier can be trained to extract and disambiguate location information from the reverse DNS hostnames of IP addresses and to apply machine learning algorithms to determine location candidates and to select a most probable candidate for a reverse DNS hostname based on a confidence score. The classifier can be used to generate an accurate geolocation database, or to provide accurate geolocation information as a service.
Methods and apparatus for associating media devices with a demographic composition of a geographic area
Example methods and apparatus for associating media devices with a demographic composition of a geographic area are disclosed. Disclosed example apparatus are to obtain a plurality of Internet Protocol addresses assigned to a media device associated with a panel member. Disclosed example apparatus are also to determine a most used Internet Protocol address from the plurality of Internet Protocol addresses, determine a geographic location corresponding to the most used Internet Protocol address, associate a geographic area with the media device in response to a determination that the geographic location corresponds to a location of an internet service provider, determine a demographic profile associated with the geographic area, and associate the demographic profile with the media device.
Content delivery systems and methods
Aspects of the present disclosure involve a CDN utilizing a Direct Server Return (DSR) request command to create a tunnel from one content server to another content server of the CDN. Through the DSR tunnel, a request for content may be served from a content server that is more advantageous for the CDN for any number of reasons, such as from a content server that is logically closer to the content server. In determining when a DSR tunnel is created to provide the content, the CDN may access a database storing various information concerning the CDN, such as the location of egress gateways of the CDN in relation to one or more content servers, connecting network location information, the capabilities of one or more content servers, and/or load information of available content servers.
Detection of domain hijacking during DNS lookup
The technology disclosed herein enables detection of domain hijacking when a DNS resolver is performing a DNS lookup. In a particular embodiment, a method provides, in response to a request to resolve a network address corresponding to a domain name, determining that a nameserver for the domain name is suspect based on satisfaction of nameserver criteria associated with the domain name. The method further includes preventing the nameserver from being used to resolve the request in response to determining that the nameserver is suspect.
Distance based search ranking demotion
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for processing local search results. In one aspect, a method determines a first local document in a set of local documents for search results is eligible for a demotion operation. The determination is based at least in part on a proximity measure based on the location of the user device and a location specified for the first local document. In response to the determination, for each other local documents in the set of local documents, a proximity measure location of the user device and the location specified for the other local document is determined. The first local document is demoted in its ranking when at least one of the proximity measures indicates a respective other local document has a specified location that is within a threshold distance of the location of the user device.

Systems and methods for faster download of digital content in mobile wireless devices
A handheld wireless device makes a request for service from a server of a business on a global network, the request originating from the wireless device is automatically routed to the closest server of the business that is geographically closest to the location of the wireless device as determined by a GPS function in the device, or by a router server in the wireless network based on the group of cell towers being connected to by the wireless device, or based on the location of the wireless device in a global telephone network database, for faster access to the service and a response there from.

Geofence Information Delivery Systems and Methods
The present invention is directed to methods and systems for querying a database of geofences, with each geofence in the database being associated with a plurality of IP addresses, preferably IPv6 addresses, and each IP address corresponding to a specific geographic coordinate. The method and system convert location coordinates to IP addresses and determine whether a location anchor point is associated with a geofence.
