Hybrid wire-fiber data networks that include wire-fiber transceivers protected against environmental interferences. In some embodiments, a hybrid-wire-fiber data network of this disclosure provides a fiber-optic link between portions of one or more wired networks. In some embodiments, a hybrid wire-fiber data network of this disclosure includes a fiber-optic link that relies only on message-priority arbitration performed on wired portions of one or more wired networks. In some embodiments, a wire-fiber transceiver of this disclosure includes electromagnetic environment (EME) protective circuitry for one or both of input power and input signals. In some embodiments, a wire-fiber transceiver of this disclosure is configured for use with a controlled area network media-access protocol (CAN) and/or a derivative of CAN. Various data communication and other methods are also disclosed in addition to hybrid wire-fiber data networks and components thereof.
Prioritized serial communication
An electric system for transmitting serial communication messages with different priorities over a communication link. The data to be transmitted is arranged in serial communication messages comprising a start of packet (SOP) symbol and data symbols. The ongoing transmission of a first message is interrupted if a SOP symbol of a second message is sent before the first message has been completed. Transmission of the first message is continued only after the second message has been sent.
Vehicle network and method of communication
A method of communication in a vehicle network is provided. An example method includes transmitting a network allocation map in a TDMA cycle, indicating reservation of time slots in the TDMA cycle. The method further includes transmitting a synchronization signal in the TDMA cycle, to synchronize the timing of nodes in the vehicle network. Each of the reserved time slots is identified by at least a network ID of a transmitting node in the vehicle network, and a slot type comprising one of a low latency traffic slot, and a bulk traffic slot. Further, the low latency traffic slots are repeated in the TDMA cycle at least as frequently as a guaranteed QoS latency parameter. Further, the bulk traffic slots are at least as long as a guaranteed QoS throughput parameter.
Transfer device and transfer method
A transfer device for coupling a priority signal and a standard signal and transferring the signal includes a reception unit that receives a plurality of signals transmitted from a device connected to an opposite side of a transfer route, a separation unit that separates the signal into the priority signal and the standard signal, a signal defragmentation unit that defragments the plurality of standard signals, a multiplexing unit that multiplexes each of the priority signal and the standard signal, a priority control unit that determines a transfer order of the signals, a header information copy unit that copy header information of the standard signal, a transmission unit that transmits the signal to a device connected to the transfer route, an interrupt transfer processing unit that perform an interruption process when the priority signal arrives during the transfer of the standard signal, a signal fragmentation unit that fragments the standard signal, a header information assignment unit that assigns the header information to the standard signal, and a transmission delaying unit that delays the transfer of the standard signal until the priority signal has been transferred.
ON-BOARD NETWORK SYSTEM
An on-board network system includes: a main arithmetic unit; a plurality of communication paths extending in different directions toward respective portions of a vehicle body; a plurality of sub-arithmetic units on the communication paths; and a storage device storing a priority order of communications according to a type of communication data. At a disturbance of one of the communication paths connected to one of the sub-arithmetic units, the main arithmetic unit reduces communications having a priority lower than a predetermined criterion and assigns, to the area with the communications reduced, communication data having a priority higher than the predetermined criterion among the communication data in the one of communication paths disturbed to continue communications in the other communication paths.
Can transceiver
A transceiver for sending and receiving data from a controller area network (CAN) bus is disclosed. The transceiver includes a microcontroller port, a transmitter and a receiver, wherein the transceiver is configured to determine bit timings from a data frame received by the receiver. The transceiver is further configured to detect attempts to introduce a signal glitch in a predetermined portion of the data frame and upon detection of the signal glitch, the transceiver is configured to invalidate the data frame on a transmission line and/or disable the transmitter for a predetermined period.
NETWORK ROUTING DEVICE AND METHOD
A network routing device for transmitting a frame between nodes connected to different communication networks among a plurality of communication networks is disclosed. The network routing device includes a routing processing circuit configured to determine a second network that is a routing target among the plurality of communication networks based on frame information received from a first network transmitting a frame among the plurality of communication networks. The network routing device also includes a frame conversion circuit configured to convert the frame to be compatible with the second network.

Various data communication and other methods are also disclosed in addition to hybrid wire-fiber data networks and components thereof.
CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK SYNCHRONIZATION
A computer-implemented method for synchronizing nodes on a controller area network includes identifying, via a processor, a node from a plurality of nodes as a sync master node; designating, via the processor, each of the remaining nodes as a sync slave node; designating, via the processor, the first message from the sync master node as a sync message; assigning, via the processor, the lowest number, among all the message IDs in the network system, to the message ID of the sync message; determining a sync message target receiving time on a sync slave node; and triggering an interrupt to the processor responsive to receiving the sync message on a sync slave node in the controller area network to perform time adjustment on the sync slave node.
PORTABLE TERMINAL AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR
According to an embodiment, a portable terminal provides maintenance information to a maintenance server that manages the maintenance information. The portable terminal acquires the maintenance information from an external recording medium. The portable terminal acquires, from the maintenance server, rank information indicating a transmission priority defined for the maintenance information. The portable terminal determines, in accordance with a type of a communication line that can be used by a communication device and the rank information, whether to transmit the maintenance information.
