A method for improving efficiency of routing edge compute traffic from a user equipment (UE) to an edge compute server at a far edge of a cellular network includes provisioning a near edge control unit (CU) and a near edge user plane function (UPF) at a near edge of the cellular network. The method also includes provisioning a far edge CU, a far edge UPF, and an edge compute workload at the far edge. The method also includes receiving UE traffic at one or more distributed units located at the far edge. The UE traffic includes the edge compute traffic and non-edge compute traffic. The method also includes identifying the edge compute traffic among the UE traffic, routing the edge compute traffic to the edge compute workload at the far edge, and routing the non-edge compute traffic to the near edge UPF at the near edge.

Method and system for transferring user equipment in mobile communication system

A method and system for transferring user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system are provided. According to the method, a source core (CN) network determines to transfer a UE that it serves and sends a transfer instruction carrying UE transfer restriction information to the UE; an access network receives a transfer request that is sent by the UE according to the restriction information carried in the transfer instruction; the access network selects a target CN entity that is different from the source CN entity for the UE; and the UE is transferred to the target CN entity. The method and system provided by the disclosure are applicable to user transferring between CN entities in any communication network. The transferring is initiated by a network side entity, and a more preferable CN entity is selected for the UE to provide a better service.

Information transmission and reception method and apparatus

Provided are an information transmission and reception method and apparatus. The method includes: determining a transmission manner of a V2X service duplication to be transmitted; selecting a PC5 air interface carrier for transmitting the V2X service duplication according to a rule corresponding to the transmission manner; and transmitting the V2X service duplication on the selected PC5 air interface carrier.

Embodiments provide a method for service deployment in a virtualized network and a server. The method includes: receiving, by a server, a service deployment request, where the service deployment request includes description of a to-be-deployed service, for example, node information, connection information, and information about access to a deployed service; creating, by the server, an instance of the service, including: creating node instances, and establishing a connection between node instances; and finally establishing, by the server, a connection between the to-be-deployed service and the deployed service according to the information about access to the deployed service.

Identifying edge clouds within networks

Techniques for edge cloud identification. An indication of edge clouds is received. Each edge cloud is uniquely identifiable via an associated edge cloud identifier. A characteristic is received from each of the edge clouds. An edge cloud for communication is determined based on the characteristic. The edge cloud is communicated with using its associated edge cloud identifier.

APPLICATION RELOCATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

An application relocation method includes: a source edge enabler server (EES) sends a first message to a target EES, where the first message is used to request to relocate an application of a terminal apparatus, and the first message includes an identifier of the terminal apparatus and an identifier of the application; and the source EES receives a second message from the target EES, where the second message is a response message of the first message, and the second message is used to indicate whether a relocation of the application of the terminal apparatus is allowed.

Resource assignment protocol-implemented policy-based direction of a client to an edge-compute resource

Aspects of the present disclosure provide a technical improvement to the problem of network congestion that exists when providing online services to clients. A system, method, and computer readable storage device use a resource assignment protocol to direct client requests for content and remote processing to a dynamic edge-compute instance placed in proximity to the client, thereby improving the Quality of Service QoS of network traffic. A policy server is implemented for serving specific clients with specific dynamically-placed services. Accordingly, traditional network traffic associated with communicating with a remote resource server and computational demand on the remote resource server are reduced, thereby making the network more efficient.

Transport protocol server relocation

A system and method for server relocation in a packet data network. A transport protocol session is established between a client 20 and server 14_1 to transfer content from the server to the client in data packets. As well as transmitting data packets to the client, the server additionally transmits declarative information as signaling packets. The declarative information includes an identifier of the content being transmitted in the ongoing session. This allows other servers 14_2 with the same content to identify the existence of the session and gives them the opportunity to volunteer to take over the session, for example if they can see that the client is now closer to them than the server currently serving the content. The two servers can then coordinate transfer of the session, whereafter the session continues with the second server transmitting content to the client.
